Those idols are not singers, they are models. For some reason before we hear their voice, they are already freaking luxury brand ambassadors.
This makes it easy to scrap idols after any minor “scandals” and it makes it dangerous to literally be human. They scrapped Seunghan after only a few months for nothing, Garam….

every company in BIG 3 had their own privilege. (cmiiw) i remember how people immediately recognized Twice, Red Valvet and Blackpink before they debuted because their company and selection program was in gen 3, which left girl groups from small companies like GFriend, Mamamoo, Dreamcatcher and others starting from 0 by relying on their luck, and hardwork.

I think being a kpop idol isnt easy, its 97% luck/money/connections 3% hard work/talent/perseverence etc
EDIT:
Lol guys take it in the wrong way please! I never said hard work dosent play a role. A lot of trainees don't debut, is it because they're not talented or don't put hard work? N the money thing was mentioned by someone else in the comment so I just added it :) this is my opinion so if you don't like it, please ignore it

If we are being honest, kpop is loosing its uniqueness, we now have idols singing amapiano, going to fashion shows, being influencers, doing everything else but kpop, I remember when I first discovered ‘gee’ I never even knew what kpop was, but i happened to see the music video, I had no clue who they were or what they were singing but I was intrigued, it was very different from what I was used to , I didn’t even know where to watch more since it was downloaded and shared through Bluetooth but now they are just a bunch of wannabe American artists.

ok but my question is why do yall all of a sudden care about privileged idols now? privileged idols has been a thing since the beginning of kpop, especially if they debuted from sm, jyp, or yg and yet ive never seen all these think-pieces about “privilege” until hybe came into the mix. ever since hybe has been climbing the ranks it’s like everybody scrambling to find something new to complain about and it’s honestly getting annoying. yall are just making yourselves look more and more like bitter hypocrites.

K-pop fans are the most clueless people in the world. If you're shocked by this then it means you were born yesterday and u have no idea how the entertainment business works. Like this is literally what Western labels like Universal Music have been doing for years- getting their new artist in front of talk shows and magazine covers even before they debut. It's how they generate interest for their artist. Of course, Hybe knew sending this group to a fashion show was going to make K-pop fans lose their minds and cause so much noise which is exactly what they wanted. This news has brought so much attention to this group which is exactly the point of it. The post on the K-pop chart alone has 6 million engements. That was honestly smart move.

Tbh New Jeans getting all those luxury brand ambassadorships within less than a year after debuting is definitely privilege, especially since all of them are teenagers and those brands are rather for adults
