It's not just the connections that helps them but the money their rich parents can spend on dancing classes, singing classes and musical instrument classes that are so very expensive and also time consuming that a normal person could not have time for if they had to work or study hard to support themselves and their families. It's not just about what you know but who you know.

I’m fine with it as long as they are talented. Using connections is pretty standard in the business world but if you don’t have any talent such as singing, dancing or stage presence you are going to have a tough time. Especially in the K-pop industry where you can become scrutinized for anything.

Anton is talented. Very talented. Jin of BTS have gone through the hardship just like the other 6 members. I know that he asked his father once if his father can give them money to buy food. Jin said that was the only time he asked his father for help. As for Bahyihyi, she didn't get help from Kai. Kai told her that he won't help her. She has to show people her talent. She just asked him for advice after that. He gave her advice on how to look at the camera when she dances and sing.

People saying "its ok to be a nepo baby if you are talented" are kind of missing the point. There is plenty of talented, and maybe waaay more talented people than these nepo babies, that wont get a chance bcs they dont have the name or the money. Thats the whole poing of why nepotism is wrong.
I cant believe people are excusing it just bcs those are their favs lol

The problem with this nepo babies wich people couldn't understand is it's not only about them being talentless some times we can see they are talented but there are so many talented people out there but they don't get to debut or recognition from public cos they are too poor to promote them self just like kendal jenner in model industry

Nepotism is a tough one to tackle because there will be some that legitimately have the talent and work ethic but there will be just as many if not more that get there solely based on money and connections. Especially now that, let's be real, there are a lot of "singers" that can't sing well because music production is such that a good producer and engineer can make anyone sound amazing, not to mention if you're rish and well connected, you'll have access to the best teachers, best producers, best equipment and even going into how looks are considered so important for idols, nepo babies can afford surgeries, cosmetics, designer clothes and styling, etc so they just immediately come in with such a huge advantage over the others that it's easy to see how it's problematic when combined with the requirements expected of idols. It's tough, there's no clear answer because you can't say that nonone from anrich background can be an idol and only a few are noticeably not as good as the others where you could claim they clearly only made it because of something besides their talent.
And on the flip side, just objectively having a nepo baby in a group makes sense because connections are everything. If a group has great singers and dancers and then a less talented nepo baby that has direct ties to famous or powerful people in the industry, their presence is technically gonna be more instrumental to the success of the group than anyone else there whether it's fair or not so is it right to say they shouldn't be there when other positions that have nothing to do with musical talent are expected? Like visuals, someone being hot should have nothing to do with music but it's as important if not more important. Age? Race? The nepo baby problem is a symptom of what sells in Kpop IMO.

In India we middle class people are told by our parents that unless you are a rich person your children cannot imagine of doing something in the entertainment industry that made me realize that It is very true .. money can really make any dream of yours ... that's why my father never admitted me in a dance class though I am very talented in it ..

Even if Jin comes from a rich family, he didn't use that to get into the group. It was a manager, he saw Jin at the bus stop and was amazed by his visual and asked him if he was interested in becoming an idol. He didn't knew dancing or singing, he has worked very very hard to become an idol and I am so proud of him 💜 Love you Jin 💜

Correction for Giselle part, she indeed went thru Saturday audition but it took her 4 times to get thru it. In fact she didn’t pass with Mark’s rap, it was CL’s Lifted. It might be true she could be from wealthy family, but her success is not from her wealth cable, she can be considered as self made 😊

Kpop idols stopped singing live on stage. This is a problem worse than nepotism.
