It may suprise you (or not) that 100 gecs in an interview once said I Set My Friends On Fire is one of their inspirations.

Kim Drac is an absolutely insane vocalist and musician. I don't know if I can defend the zaney genre blending at all times but I love to hear someone that can sing, scream, growl, rap, and do it in a nimble way. Bouncing back and forth between each and uhh...attempting to blend them together at times.

Things that rhyme with orange is a 10/10 nostalgia trip and nothing you could ever say would take that away

Brads the last person I would think of to understand scene music. A lot of it is a bit dated nowadays but being there with teens trying to push the envelope of genre mixing in mostly DIY internet projects, it was fun. ISMFOF even did a song with Smosh for example, dated but you had to be there kind of thing.

The "work it bitch" part on My Confession will not leave my brain, it's permanently playing on loop and I honestly don't mind that much.

Ah yes, one more time of thinking "Well yeah this sounds good" and then immediately hearing Brad say "this just sounds terrible"

ISMFOF were the absolute icons when it came to the scene era. Their influence is affecting scenecore to this day. Also incredibly sweet people, had the opportunity to play w them once. One of my scene dreams come true

I Set My Friends on Fire shaped the scene more than I think Brad can understand having not been around at the time. When that Crank Dat cover released on MySpace, it rewired everyone’s brains and that first album was a major step forward in popularizing heavy music that did not conform to genre expectations for that particular age group. Its contributions to the musical canon are greater than its detractions, and while I can see why a first listen in 2024 may seem unimpressive, it was a powerhouse of its time. Edit: With no I Set My Friends on Fire there is no See You Space Cowboy or the like.

The Kim Dracula stuff is legitimately funny AND enjoyable for how much of an intentional and VERY ELABORATE, very articulately crafted shitpost it is.

brad you're grouped with todd and fantano for my favorite music channels of all time but i gotta kno if you call metalcore, post-hardcore, and screamo "pop punk" specifically to mess with me

I actually listened to that Set My Friends On Fire album after I saw your January ranking video. NGL, I kind of love it ironically. Like it's so insane and obnoxiously off the wall that I kind of enjoy it.
