My personal story is that as a kid I played Pokémon soul silver and when I finished the elite four I thought the game was done so I turned it off only to find out years later that there was another region I could've gone to.

This is basically coming back to Skyrim and you are confused and lost and wondering what the heck you did on your last playthrough.

I love how time passes by even when the player is gone

This would be an amazing beginning to an RPG tbh. The hero is thrown into the action with several quests at various degrees of completion and the townsfolk are all pissed that they took so long away. They have to build up their reputation in the town again by not only completing the quests they have but accepting and completing new ones. If they leave for more than a week and return, it can effect how the townsfolk treat them based on how long they are away.

I totally thought he was gonna quit and start a new game. At least that's what I do whenever I jump back in a game after years and my quests are "Help Jafrondir create the gungimungi by releasing Jeff from his prison in Hjeldorp".

This is depressingly relatable. I’m so sorry, RuneScape.

I love how nonchalant that guy’s son is about being trapped in a dungeon and getting poked by a weird creature with a stick made of glass of something.

The worst part is starting a save, leaving for months, coming back and not knowing where you are so you restart entirely, and then leave again. So basically my time with Skyrim

This is precisely my experience every time I revisit any of my towns in Animal Crossing.

At the end of breath of the wild I had something like 60 unfinished quests. All those poor people are still waiting for me...

Sometimes i even forget about the existence of some RPG games i have, i really feel bad for the in-game characters who have to wait that long for me to be back💀

On my first playthrough of Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, there was this one puzzle that I could never figure out, and I just kept going in circles for hours until I gave up. I eventually came back a few years later and figured out the puzzle really easily

I played DQ 11 when it came out for Switch all the way up until the last optional dungeon. I stopped playing when a new game came out and didn't touch it again until this summer. I was nervous that I didn't have the proper mindset to finish the game after being gone for so long, so I restarted the whole game again, played through everything I did before, and finally beat the true final boss of the story. And I have to say; DQ 11 was a pretty fantastic game.

The title was ironically the most relatable part since, aside from time obviously not passing when not playing(didn’t they make an animation about that?), they will never tell you that you’ve been gone for so long. Heck, if you take a quest for someone’s birthday, it likely still will be their birthday in 10 in game months.

When I comeback to a game for a long time I usually forget how to play and do random stuff
