The fact that none of this would have happened if it weren’t for Summoning Salt’s original Ultra Shortcut video makes this that much more wild. These videos are becoming part of the very narrative that they tell.

Hello it is I Goomba Just wanted to formally thank Salt here for putting in so much effort to making this amazing piece. I'm so excited to see this all done considering it all started with me watching one of his videos. Luckily many people helped me along the way such as Lothjon, Tarsa129 and ThatCowGuy and they played a key role in developing SCs Thank you for watching everyone! :D

mathii & goomba are now certified legends of the summoning salt channel. imagine carrying a game’s speed running history so hard that you have a 40 minute video made almost exclusively about your achievements. legends.

Goomba and iMathII are so wholesome. Seeing MathII in Goomba's chat, cheering him on to beat MathII's own record was great. And that they collaborate together to research possible new shortcuts to compete on. Good dudes, great competition. Thanks for doing this video on them and their achievements here!

Hey! iMathII here, for those who don't recognise my youtube channel I'm sure it goes without saying, but also can't be overstated, that your videos are amazing... truly incredibly amazing <3 ever since i found your channel and started playing MKDD, speedrunning has been a huge part of my life. in fact i just finished watching this video with 3 of my friends, who i met through mario kart and i took a 7 hour bus ride to meet up with seeing the work effort and love that me and the rest of the community have put into this game being celebrated... it's a feeling that's hard to be put into words. throughout the video, me and my friends were shouting and running around the room with excitement, seeing and hearing the names of people we know was so rewarding. especially when Lewis Richards saw his name at the bottom of the list at 36:20 it was so small and unexpected but we went bananas over it! Lewis was actually the one who thought of the title for this video, which i passed on to SummoningSalt, so shoutouts to Lew!! You change the world, SummoningSalt. Thank you <3

I like that the two diehard shortcutters who seemed to be battling for the record everytime hopped on call to find another one together, shows that they have a good level of respect/friendship

Mathii's story is quite incredible. At the start of his WR attempts, he had nowhere near the same raw pace as goomba, but with all his practice and determination, he managed to rival a Mario Kart world champion. Goes to show that the ordinary can become extraordinary with trial and error and a lot, A LOT of practice

I think something important to remember is that a lot of these people aren’t enemies. But instead a community. It’s easy to think these runners hate eachother, going back and forth with the record. But here we see that the two top runners, Goomba and Matthi get on a call and work together to find a new method. Competitors, Not rivals.

I want this guy to narrate my work commute. “Now that Absent had mastered the 8th street stoplight glitch and the new Arco parking lot alternate route, there didn’t seem to be any time left to save. It seemed his world record commute would stand forever. And it did...until one month later, when he beat it by three additional seconds. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you...the Neighbor’s Lawn shortcut.”

It’s kind of unreal that DD still looks so incredibly good after almost 20 years. Still my favorite of the series.

I recently started grinding Double Dash time trials and both Goomba and iMathII have been incredibly kind and welcoming to me. I hope this video garners them recognition for their phenomenal playing and attracts more interest to the MKDD community

“I’ll watch a couple of minutes of this before I go to bed” 41 mins later - “That was awesome” Summoning Salt’s storytelling ability is absolutely sensational.

15 years. That is such an insane amount of time for a speed-based game to go with only one minor skip being found.

I just wanna talk about how there's still only like 7 courses broken so far. That's it. Mario Kart Wii that came later on is totally busted and yet it's predecessor is genuinely well designed and hard to break. Crazy

Helping Salt in making this was a lot of fun :) It's really cool to see all the shortcut science compiled into a well made documentation like this. Here's hoping that we find more shortcuts in Double Dash in the future :D

I love that Salt realized the power of his background music. The new tracks he's picked out are MINT 👌🏻

Mathii feels like the main character of a book here. Starting off as a rookie looking up to Goomba, coming to prominence by winning through creative thinking rather than strength or skill initially. After that they become friendly rivals attempting to continually one up each other but also working together to come up with new and better strategies, it's genuinely a type of story you expect to read or watch in middle school.

It seems like every SummoningSalt video is like a major moment that we all need to drop everything we are doing and watch another certified classic

This still shows just how damn tight the programming of Double Dash is.
