in ben’s political compass test video, he literally said that wealthier people deserve better healthcare than the poor and i don’t think i’ve ever heard anything more evil.

When I was 20, a girl on the streets stopped me to ask direction. She was from the states and traveled to my country to meet with a doctor for her health issues. She was only 17 and by herself. I was shocked when she told me that she traveled to Europe by herself for treatment . I was like "why would someone travel so far to seek treatment" and then I realised how atrocious is the health care system in the USA.

It is absolutely beyond my comprehension why anyone would think that someone with cancer deserves to be saddled with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt for having the audacity to get cancer

The only thing Benjamin has convinced me of is that necessities like healthcare and housing should be publicly owned

Notice how Ben never once used the word "negotiate," but he did use the phrase "cram down" about two dozen times.

Apparently they forgot to bill me for over 3 decades in the hospitals here in Europe.

We're the only industrialized country without universal healthcare...if this country cared about its people, it would fund their basic needs.

I want to start with a certain drug that was highly encouraged by my doctor. I have a "great" insurance and worker coverage for US standards. After insurance, my copayment would be $200-400 (depending on the specific drug) a month, if I could find the medicine anywhere. In Spain, if you are under a certain group, it is 4€, and if you only have your doctor receit, it is 58€. So, yeah. I would like to remind all my American friends two things: First, the US spends more public money on healthcare than any other country in the world. And it is higher than most in expenditure per capita. It is not a problem with Medicare and Medicaid, it is a problem with insurance beaurocracy (did you know that everytime that someone declares bankruptcy due to medical bills, the state has to pay for that? So the state has to pay for the $2 million bill after the person's life has been ruined, instead of footing a $100k bill with a happy citizen). Second, you do not pay for your insurance just what your pay stub says that you pay for your insurance. If you stub says that you pay 55 dollars, but your company pay an extra 400, then you are paying 450 dollars for the insurance. I cannot understand how people can fall for such a cheap accounting trick: Everything that your company "pays for you", it is money that simply comes from your salary before you even get your salary. It is just a trick to lead people to believe taht their insurances are quite cheap actually, when they are not.

life expectancy in the US just went down to 76 yo. Defending the horrific health care system in the US is borderline criminal.

I love that Ben just casually admitted that the housings market builds more houses for profit. But also, Ben doesn't think that most everyday, non-business people would build a house to, y'know, live in?

How do these people think healthcare works in the majority of 1st world countries besides the United States???

A while back I had a Conservative acquaintance argue that we're doing the rest of the world a huge favor by paying so much money into the medical industry, because that way the rest of the world gets to benefit from [the new medicine and technologies funded by] our spending... and therefore we should keep doing it (...?). That was his defense of not having gov't funded medical care -_- Not only is that like.. just straight up not true, but even if it was, since when are Republicans advocates for helping out other human beings for the sake of helping out other human beings? If that was actually the case (it's not) and the Republican belief system was even slightly internally consistent (it's not), they would 100% demand the U.S. stop helping people with their tax dollars lol

I have a heart problem and the drug they want to put me on costs about $20K per month if you dont have insurance. Luckily for me I have insurance so it'll only be $1604.69....... Gotta love that 69 cents, lol. Ben is the worst person in the world. "Why would build an apartment building knowing there's no profit in it?" You would just build a house because you want somewhere to live Ben. People usually want to live under a roof

The "allows doctors and patients to buy drugs at big pharma's price" thing is wild. He's trying to make it sound like it's a privilege to pay 5 times more for medication.

Me watching this as ive been trying for 3 months to get an MRI because i have all the symptoms of pancreatic cancer. They drag their feet on purpose knowing you have no recourse. I just keep going to the ER to get help because my appointments are always 3-5 weeks out. Im literally in pain every moment of the day and they give me tylenol and ibuprofen (which i have at home anyway) and tell me im too young to be sick. America! 🤠

The reason why conservatives are this way is not always a sadism. It is for a lot of them but it’s also a profound love and need for money. The more they can commoditize and monetize, the more they can amass in wealth. They believe in these policies because they quite literally need a seventh beach house.
