The Shadow - Carl Jung's Warning to The World

Carl Jung warns us against the dangers of the shadow (the unknown dark side of our personality). We must acknowledge our shadow and enter into long and difficult negotiations with it through shadow work. Only then can we become conscious of the collective shadow (the unknown dark side of mankind) and not fall prey to it.

Exploring our shadow allows us to rescue the good qualities that lie dormant within us, which improves our lives and the lives of those around us. We can then face the collective shadow and take responsibility to address the denial of important issues and a lack of individual and collective initiative.

Telling the truth is the most desirable way to deal with a difficult past, rather than dismissing the atrocities and having the shadow grow blacker until it can no grow no more, and thus history repeats itself.

I was born a Care Bear - all heart- no boundaries. Over time, I became an alcoholic, overwhelmed with the ugliness of the world, thinking at the time, that things kept happening to me. Now, after doing my own Shadow Work, I realize all of the illogical and irrational pain I endured / happened FOR me. I once read β€œNo one is coming to save you from yourself”. It zapped me, hard. I decided, you know what, it’s time to roll up my sleeves and dive into my very own darkness. Was it easy? Hell to the nah. Was it worth it? πŸ’―. Fully accepting my darkness while also acknowledging all of my light has forever changed my perspective and my peace for the better. I am going to be 2 years sober this august 8th. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere but HERE RIGHT NOW. if you’re reading this, I send love your way - an intense golden beam from my heart straight to yours. ✨

Humility is powerful. It taught me things I never would have learned otherwise. I truly have learned to forgive, let go control and trust, and to love myself on a new level.

This channel is as good as anything on YouTube. I don’t know who you are, but your words and insights have helped me to understand myself and lead a better life. I suffer less because of you. Thank you.

I cried while watching this and when i read the comments, it makes me emotional because i thought i was going crazy or abnormal or something because of what was going inside my head and i'm relieved to know that I'm not alone and not an alien and that somehow i can fight or acknowledge my shadow and make it bring out a positive side of me and it makes me feel that what I'm experiencing is valid.

I strongly recommend β€œThe body keeps the score β€œ by Bessel van der Kolk. It explains how we physically process mental anxiety and the effects it has on our lives. It is basically what understanding what Jung was saying.

I confronted my shadow and felt like my soul was being torn apart. I had to dig deep and face all my insecurities, shame, and guilt from birth till now. It was something I was running away from for 28 years. Now I can say I walk hand in hand with my shadow. I am my shadow. My shadow is me. We are separate but one.

Shadow work is the person who introspects and takes responsibility. However, we're living in sociopathic times and those who introspect and take responsibility are scapegoated and slaughtered.

Very well explained. It’s so true that you do need to address your personal shadow first if you hope to alleviate the collective shadow. Many people want to address the collective shadow without working on themselves first, and it manifests as black & white blaming of others.

Jung would be pleased. This channel is a powerful effort to liberate us from darkness by the light of consciousness. I am profoundly moved. If this channel has been demonized, it is inevitably by people who are projecting their own inner situations.

I would only like to congratulate and thank the author of this podcast for his ability to so perceptively synthesize the original messages of so many authors and, especially, for the artistic knowledge of so many paintings and images that seem to perfectly accompany and illuminate the accompanying analysis

This is really fascinating. I just recently came across this concept of the shadow and I feel it is spot on as someone who self-sabotages just when I'm getting to a good place in life. This makes sense.

Even studying psych and later getting a counseling degree, Jung was something we only spent a very short time on. It was like ok expanded on Freud and archetypes and that there is a deeper collective unconscious. Next. Many years later I'm finding how fascinating some of his theories were.

This is so powerful. I've been tapping into this field of knowledge and the whole world has been changing around me. I feel I may have personified too much of my shadow.
