Listen:    • Lorde - Tennis Court

Not only is Lorde's debut album incredibly enjoyable from a melodic and lyrical standpoint, but this New Zealand singer-songwriter has shown some incredible promise at a very young age!

What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

THE album starts with the song tennis court and ends in a world alone. the first line is DONT YOU THINK THAT IT'S BORING HOW PEOPLE TALK. And ends in LET THEM TALK.

People are hating on her because she went "mainstream". Go away hipsters. This is a great album compared to the other garbage on the radio.

The way you gave Billie eilish lavish praise for things lorde has been doing for almost a DECADE now this review needs a reprise. An amazing album that has aged wonderfully

What's not to like? It's very well-written, production is great, stripped down and simple yet powerful and moving. Her vocals are unique and gripping. Yes, Royals is a very popular song, what of it? It deserves its popularity. Too many stupid underground-wannabes here are trying to knock it as a Lana Del Rey rip off or boring radio music without really giving this whole album a fair chance.

Am I the only one who likes White Teeth Teens the most? The percussion is so good.

TBH I'm not a fan of any really popular pop-music artists, but Lorde I like. Her songs are super clean, tranquil and her voice is very soothing and smooth. The whole album almost feels like a still lake with mist on top with all the crisp beats and snaps. I think it's pretty psychedelic on some level (especially Ribs) and I don't have a problem telling people I actually enjoy this album.

What pisses me off is that he doesnt do quick reviews anymore, so why do them with lorde and chvrches? This album was great and deserved a proper review

this album is perfection from start to finish. none of it sounds generic or basic, or either boring. This is intelligent, entertaining, and logical. For her age this is huge.

far as im concerned royal is actually the worst song on the album. The rest of the songs are so much better

See I like how stripped down this is. She says right on the album: "I'm kind of over getting told to throw my hands up in the air, so there." Why does everything have to be so bombastic nowadays? Can't we ever bask in the quiet, pensive moments? I think this whole thing was kind of a quiet rebellion against how fucking overblown everything has become. Why do we always need some massive climax, some grand statement, or definite ending, to be satisfied? That's how I took this album, and that's why I absolutely loved it.

just gave this album a listen. I have to say: this is one of the best pop albums I've heard in a little while. I love how melodic it is. Lots of hip hop vibes in here, particularly of the ASAP Rocky variety. The album's not great the whole way through, and I think your criticisms of it are very valid. Overall, this is a stronger pop release than just about anything I can think of on radio. I hope this starts a revolution towards more meaningful/atmospheric pop. Like you, I'm looking forward to her improving on this to make a truly stellar record. Sharper writing, even better instrumentals -- and this girl will be IT
