I think I was 14 when Pure Heroine was released. I remember I had no idea that songs were from albums. When I heard Royals for the first time, I didn't know why, but I searched for the artist behind it. Then that's how I found out about PH, and the concept of albums in general. I remember I downloaded MP3 versions of PH. That was a life-changing experience for me. PH, Lorde's artistry...were life-changing for me. I wasn't the same kid anymore. Of course, I was a teenager. Except for Melodrama, I haven't found another perfect album like PH.

Melodrama hit me harder as an adult (I was moving out, experiencing love and the pains of it all for the first time), but Pure Heroine felt like a throughline between her and many other teens going through the awkward transition from teenhood to adulthood. Teams fills me with nostalgia. It was the song on the radio on the way home from guard competitions, late at night, but Ribs feels like the beating heart of the album without overshadowing the rest of the songs that all feel like a conversation. We were all going through change, and it was okay to feel cynical, afraid, isolated.

Lorde consistently drops albums I need in my life, or will eventually need. Tennis Court and RIbs changed the way I saw music when I was 12, and I would carry that with me throughout my adolescence. Melodrama is a literal masterpiece. It came out during a really hard time in my life, and experiencing my first heartbreak.

Been Relistening to this album every 2 years or so since I was 15 when it released and I have to say, it always feels me with so much nostalgia of my teenage years and life after high. I'm glad I always took the time to enjoy my childhood because usually we are all so eager to grow up in our youth but we realize as we grow older those were the most precious times. Atleast I can say I always took the time to enjoy every moment of it. Even at the time I knew it was something magical about the time. Even tho I was usual marked as the weird kid or whatever but I never let those comments affect me from being 100 myself, before the harsh world hit me

lets be honest, she's amazing... but she didn't write these songs alone. Joel Little was a MASSIVE part of her success. Her voice and her authenticity is what sells, but if not for Joel Little, no one would have ever heard any of this music. Saying "how Lorde wrote a perfect album.." is misleading.

buzzcut season is the best representation of pure heroine, the mood, the soul of a 16 teenager bridging adulthood consciousness, the lyricism and the vocals.
