Damn, I guess the only model Iā€™m capable of being is a model citizen.

It seems models don't need to be attractive just striking.

It's interesting how the fashion industry is being more open to diversity. Qoves has done it again, We appreciate the content.

I am 65 years old and got a break when I turned 58. They ONLY use my hair! Never give up! You can do it!

The models from the past were more conventionally attractive. I think the fashion industry is moving towards "unattractive" faces or features you don't normally see. But pretty is still pretty. A rose will always be prettier than a rock no matter how perceptions shift.

I noticed that Jacquemus casted models for a few of his earlier fashion shows based on the shows overall aesthetic. It resulted in a diverse and interesting looking group of models. Now that his brand has grown, heā€™s using more well known ā€œsuper modelsā€, but I thought his previous casting choices were cooler

I used to model but since I wasnā€™t tall or lanky enough for runway it was mostly print and promotional. It can be fun and glamorous but back in the ā€˜90s there was also a lot of sexual harassment, fetishizing, etc. On one shoot I was a teenager and had to pose with a much older man who was in a bathtub. I was all wetted down in a sheer dress and he was in swim trunks. It was very uncomfortable and the designer apologized to me later for that. He held onto my hips even when the camera wasnā€™t shooting, and he was the photographerā€™s boyfriend! And itā€™s rare to be able to make a living from that alone. Iā€™m really glad to see more diversity now! Hopefully thereā€™ll be more inclusion for older gals and maybe Iā€™ll get work againā¤

why do so many people on the comments talk about models like theyre not real people with feelings and keep calling them ugly and unattractive, theres even a comment saying theyre just a hanger... is bullying a trend now. i believe that everyone is attractive in their own way

I do find it interesting I meet a lot of men who do not like tall women, and they actually find a lot of models to not be attractive. Their words (extremely ugly) . I do wonder if the modeling industry is pushing so far in finding extreme faces and looks that being a model is no longer the standard for attractiveness. As an artist I have an appreciation of all the strong dimorphic features however I am inclined to agree that the most attractive women I have met were not in the modeling category and many of the modeling looks come off far too aggressive or alien for me to ever aspire or idolize as an epitome of attractiveness. It would be interesting to see a study on if models in the modeling industry were rated highly for attractiveness among males and females compared to women on Instagram/ or not in the modeling industry. Thank you for the content as always :)

The biggest consistent thing I've noticed in modeling are the requirement for wide set eyes, a protracted (strong) jawline, fuller lips, high cheekbones, and of course height. It's extremely rare to see a model with a recessed jaw (as the lips are thinner, the eyes more close set, the face flatter or concave, and the person is generally less attractive)

00:03 Learn about the facial features that modeling agencies are looking for. 01:48 Models are generally chosen for being above average tall and attractive 03:43 Physical attractiveness is a key factor in the modeling industry 05:38 Beauty conventions have become more inclusive of different racial features 07:30 The main point is that attractive faces are preferred for representing a brand. 09:27 Mature features like prominent cheekbones and defined cheeks are attractive in Western culture. 11:26 Being hired in the modeling industry is correlated to having a commanding and intimidating aura. 13:21 The prevalence of androgynous models is increasing and likely will increase into 2024. 15:12 Modeling agencies prioritize racial or ethnic ambiguity 17:01 Fashion brands prioritize unique and artistic faces in high-end Couture modeling. 18:39 The fashion industry is unpredictable and it's difficult to predict future trends.

When I was in my teens and early 20s, I was naturally quite thin (like size 2 or 0). Back then, I thought maybe I could become a print model, due to being 5ā€™3ā€. Also, I thought that being East Asian (specifically Korean) would make me standout. I even took modeling classes and briefly went to NYC for a model/talent competition. However, it ended up being a waste of money. This was also before Asian models became popular. Now that Iā€™m in my early 40s, I have an average (size 6-8) figure. Aging definitely slows metabolism. However, I do take steps in order to slow down aging, such as skincare, eat less and exercise more, drink green tea daily, etc.. While Iā€™m glad thereā€™s more racial and size diversity in the modeling industry, itā€™s still a very competitive and challenging field to become successful in.

Ever since I lost weight, Iā€™ve been watching this channel and am so intrigued by human nature in general. Looks matter so much. Thatā€™s something you donā€™t pay attention to when youā€™re fat and overweight since the world just ignores you, writ large. Looks matter.

I just think the "mature" features like high cheekbones are naturally attractive because they signal sexual maturity. So it makes sence that a female face with a mix of neotenous AND mature features would be more attractive than a female face that just looks like a childs face. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

I'd appreciate the measurements being given in cm as well, e.g. as text. Everyone except the USA uses the metric system and that would be a great service to them.
