It hits so different hearing a 33 year old Taylor sing this as opposed to a 20 year old. My favorite thing about this song is possibly the way she made sure all the guitar arrangements where somewhat reminiscent of John's signature style. She made sure to study his sound to replicate it in a song where she's explicitly talking about how emotionally abusive and manipulative he was. That's some real Stevie Nicks level of pettiness, and I love it.

Something about this version hits differently than the original. In the original version, she sounds like a heartbroken girl who has yet to recover from the ordeal. In this version, she sounds like a grown women wistfully reminiscing about a past relationship. She's healed from it, she's grown, moved on, learned lessons, and lived.
