I cannot believe the rabbit survived. That's incredible.
And the fact that a first responder took care of the rabbit and left him on the stump in front of the house for them.
The cats surviving is pretty incredible, too, but cats are just generally really resilient and resourceful. plus, they weren't stuck in a cage on the first floor of the house.

This is terrifying. I feel like people forget how large and fast these avalanches and landslides are. If you’re close enough, there’s barely any time to get away or get to any cover that may decrease the risk of death. It seems like it just swallows you up. Glad these guys survived to tell the story and remind people how dangerous these events are. ❤️

Augie's story, this is why you should always, always let loved ones know if you have a change of plans. My ex's friend came home when no one knew, and the house caught on fire, and they didn't attempt to rescue her, because they didn't know she was there... Had she let someone know she came back, she probably would've lived...

Tremendous respect to Sherpas, and their ability to withstand the toughest conditions in Everest. A lot of people may not even be aware that the Sherpas have biologically evolved to be able to use oxygen more efficiently in higher altitudes, they can go without oxygen masks upto heights where everyone else would mandatorily require them.
That's why foreign climbers HAVE to have local Sherpa guides when trying to go to the Everest, they are their best bet on survival.

Mingma G's story is so horrific, I'm amazed that he went back to the mountain after that. I have enormous respect for how he carries this part of his life.
Augie's story is haunting. I can only imagine the feeling of assuming you've doomed your family by choosing not to evacuate during an voluntary evacuation. It's so easy to assume nothing would happen though, given the pattern of 3 or 4 evacuations that seemed pretty pointless.

I was there in Napal in 2015. The group I was with got hit by the tail end of that avalanche. We were a few miles away from Everest base camp when that happened. If we were a bit further along the trail we would probably of been hit harder. We just ended up with a few inches of snow on us. I saw some of the deviation from that earthquake that caused the avalanche in Katmandu. It was insane and terrifying

These really help my attention. Thank you for giving them a space here to share their story! The mudslide story with everyone EVEN ALL the animals surviving has me jumping up and down happy and SO proud of them. The humbling experience that must have been to lose his best friend for the same reason his family nearly died over. Buddha do have some healthy wisdom, and animals really are resilient.
