HTTYD is the only movie that I can re watch countless of times and still get the same reaction as the first time I watch it, its my whole childhood.

I remember when this movie came out, my brother and I got an old composition notebook and drew a dragon on it and started our own dragon log. We went around our neighborhood looking for cool rocks and prickly plants, we called those the eggs. We looked around everywhere trying to find some proof of dragons. I long for that feeling. I want to feel it again. I want to exist in that moment again. I still have that little bit of hope that dragons exist and we can coexist alongside them like they do in the movie.

A theory I have regarding these movies and the impact that they had, is that the reason they resounded so much with the children who watched it when it first came out, is that the protagonist, Hiccup, grew up with them. Each movie showed him struggling with things applicable to their age. First, finding your unique strengths and fitting in, second establishing your place in a world where you learn that the adults all around you are as flawed and helpless as you are (and of course loss of a parental figure). And finally, with the last one, at the age that sees many of those initial children as young adults (along with Hiccup), we explore themes of letting go and moving on. Be that moving out, moving away, losing childhood friends or just change in general. These movies are beautiful.

Reading all these comments really helped me. I thought i was a weirdo because of crying and feeling attached to this saga... but I've found people who feel exactly what I feel. I am full of joy. We miss you Toothless, we'll never forget you.

When the third movie came out in theaters, I begged my parents to take me to see it. I was in tears throughout the whole ending and when I left the theater... I realized that it was the end of an era. I wasn't exactly a kid anymore. I'd been watching the movies since I was five years old. I ran around during recess at school pretending I was Astrid flying around on Toothless. Over the years I learned to appreciate the story and the characters and the MASTERPIECE that is How To Train Your Dragon. It holds a special place in my heart and I hope that it always will <3

There is still a possibility that dragons do exist. I choose to believe that.

"Sometimes you won't know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory." I loved this series and always will, I will show this to my kids because it is something that holds dear to me and I want to show them just how good of a series this is.

Anyone want to be a Dragon rider and live the Viking life? I know I do and I would love every single second of it.

My thought- "I'll just listen to this as I work." And here I am twenty minutes later, just watching the clouds and missing my dragon.
