People who bash the vocals don't know shit about singing, singing like this is insanely hard and extreme in itself, contrary to what most clueless kids on here think, I wish more vocalists were doing this style of 80s metal vocals, this guy does it well, growls and shouts would sound terrible on this, the clean high pitch singing adds a sense of melody and seemingly keeps the songs flowing and organized, to the untrained ear this stuff is ridiculous, it takes time to appreciate overly technical music, overly isn't the right selection of words, but some of you understand.

This is one of those hiddden masterpieces in metal history. First listening about ten years ago i got a bit perplexed with the vocals because its different of what i would expected for this kind of sound -and i must say it fit perfect - this ages like wine, better and better.

Maybe the greatest progressive metal record of all times. The perfect combination of technical sophistication and emotional depth. Pure perfection.

I literally dreamed last night that Spiral Architect just released a second album. After all these years this is still a solid masterpiece.

Probably the best "technical", "prog" metal album ever. Just mind bending at every instant.

Last time I heard this album I was like 15 years younger. It still makes me feel musically inadequate. It's like a metal Gentle Giant. \m/

Sounds like Zappa and Jaco joined Fates Warning, took acid and recorded the best prog metal ever!

It sounds like Watchtower meets Psychotic Waltz meets early Fates Warning. Incredible.

Friend burned this for me on CD in 2006, still astonished by the bass on this album. It's an incredible show of instrument mastery.

I first listened to this album in my car, right around its release date. That insane flurry of notes at the 16-second mark of 'Spinning' made me pull over immediately. I must have replayed that segment at least 10 times, and I laughed a little harder each time I heard it. Absurdly technical, yet beautiful in its own way.

I've joined a math rock band recently. I've been working hard on odd riffs while listening to this album a lot. As a result, I've only been able to sleep 3 hrs a night for the past two weeks. I can say that this album in some way has caused damage to my mental health.

Greatest album of all genres of all time. This is the apex of human creativity and musical ability. Especially the first 3 songs.
