Marseille reminds me a lot of my home, Liverpool. A city steeped in history, built on/ by immigration. A vibrant cultural hotpot, full of art, music, architecture, night life, food and colourful people which has been neglected by their government in favour of the bigger cities (London/ Paris)
The locals are fiercely proud of their hometown, but hold a lot of the rest of the country in contempt due to their disdain for their managed decline, but hold the rest of the world in a much higher regard, due to their wanderlust. If you go to either city with an open mind and love in your heart, you'll never want to leave. If you go their with a bad attitude, arrogance , a sense of entitlement and an air of superiority, you may never get the chance to leave...

I’ve lived in Marseille most of my life, and living their is like being in a toxic relationship. Marseille is a whole lotta vibe, you don’t feel like being in France, you’re in Marseille. Ppl from Marseille are wonderful, the identity of the Sport. But, this city is just over, and for ever. Nowhere feels safe, in my time it used to be the North only now even the "classy" neighbourhoods are not calm. Too muche I migration, this beautiful city became Lampedusa. Really sad, because this city is one of Europe’s town with the most identity, it’s the oldest France city, it was a Greek Cité, named Massilia 1000 BC

This is such a chill and lovely video but it still moved me to tears. Marina, Rodrigo, Steve, that store owner and the young artists exude so much love for Marseille! I grew up in a violent neighborhood that I love and cherish even though I don't live there anymore. Even my friends who live in the same city don't understand how I could be so at home and happy whenever I'm there. Seeing the people in Marseille through your lens made me feel less weird/alone for deeply loving a place that many people think of negatively. Thank you!
