The Animals were one of my favourite 60s bands and this was one of their best songs. I was 15 when it came out in 1965,it was a great song then and it still sounds great in 2023,these oldies stand the test of time, unlike the modern rubbish of today.

It has become exceeding clear that we now must exit this general vicinity.

Us Brits love you Vietnam era vets could relate to this track and rightly so. We call this music northern soul, from working class guys who were born into poverty in places like New Castle, Birmingham and Manchester. American R&B music reinterpreted and regurgitated to include our own pain. This song is based on working in the coal mines of these places and then dying young from the effects of that work. This song is really a dedication to all Blue collar and working class fork and the jobs we have to do to raise our families. The sprit of the American veterans who lived and died around the time of this track keep it relevant today. God Bless and Thanks X

The Animals were the reason I never wasted a dime on any Beatles music in 1965. I already heard real rock.

I really did not appreciate The Animals when I was a teen, but as I have gotten older I realize how integral they were to the rock/blues scene. Amazing band, lots of their music has withstood the test of time...!
