In this video I take a look at the growing sovereign citizen movement around the world, in countries such as America, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia and New Zealand - and the similarities and differences between them all. I also discuss the history of law and order and how it developed in commonwealth countries and the US through the Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights and the constitution. I also investigate the psychology behind the movement, who's making money from it, and why it's been so successful - and even delve into some philosophical musings around law and order itself. OoOoOoh.

So the kid that used to go "no, I'm not dead because I'm always covered in an invisible laser shield" in the playground, grew up and became a sovereign citizen

"I'm not a US citizen, you can't make me follow your laws" "Uh, no, you can't do that, I have constitutional rights!" I love these people.

Hilarious line from the Wikipedia page: "Sovereign citizen arguments have no basis in law and have never been successful in any court."

Fun fact, in Australia we commonly call sovereign citizens "cookers", because they've obviously spent too much time out in the sun and their brain is cooked

If you think a slave can just opt-out of slavery, you don't understand slavery.

It's always a fun game to play called "how far do we have to dig into any conspiracy theory before we find the antisemitism?"

I think Dan Olson's "jar" explanation is a great way to understand conspiracy mindsets like Sovereign Citizens. The specifics of the beliefs don't really matter, and may change at any time; what matters is the overarching concept - "I should be immune to the parts of the law I dislike but also entitled to everything I want".

Wonder how someone was able to pay for those billboards without using a legal name to sign a contract.

My favourite part is that they believe there's a huge overarching all powerful conspiracy, and all you have to do to to break free from it is basically say, 'nuh uh!' and the evil shadow government goes, 'ah, damn it, they got us... guess we can't control them anymore'

“Are we in agreement that I am a man?” Police officer: “I do not know your gender, sir, I’m not going to assume that” was the best part to me lol

I had to buy a Soft Sit following my hemorrhoid surgery. It was EXTREMELY helpful and performed exactly as advertised. So seeing Soft Sits unfairly maligned in this video really roasts my bottom.

Crazy 45 year old looking guy: "I stopped aging at 25." Munecat: "He died in 2018" Me laughing way too hard at that 💀

The idea that you can just politely opt out of slavery is fascinating.

This really feels like people have convinced themselves that the real world has exploitable glitches like a video game.

Soveriegn Citizens: Remember that Monty Python Holy Grail sketch about the peasants screaming "help, help! I'm being repressed!" Let's try that in real life!

Until I saw "I don't know your gender, I'm not going to assume that" and "Why are you a dickhead". I thought the best SC vs Police interaction was a small town cop dealing with a guy by playing his own SovCit 'card'. "I get where you coming from, but you've got to understand my position. I'm working the inside." I can't even begin to repeat his verbiage and do it any justice. He got the guy to accept a ticket, hands it to the guy and tells him three documents to take to court with him. If I remember right the cop ended with. "You have a good day. Power to the people." Walks back to the car, his partner is standing between the patrol car and the SovCit's car. Looks at his partner and says "Judge Cary is gonna eat that guy for lunch."

It always gets me how those people always arrive at: "Laws are arbitrary and constructed and force us into systems we didn't consent to" and then go: "However, there is this other set of laws that's definitely superior and unquestionably true"

Sovereign Citizens TLDR: "I want all the benefits and protections of a taxpayer with none of the responsibilities or burdens."

They aren’t anti government. They are just anti having any actual responsibilities.
