These guys are charging 150-220 or so for an install and here I am upgrading my neighbor's pc for a couple of beers. Man I've been cheated my whole life

Imagine ordering a service like this and the Verge guy shows up to install your motherboard.

Imagine The Verge PC guy knocking on your door with a bag of tweezers in his left hand, a bucket of thermal paste in his right hand, a swiss army knife in his pocket and a table in the back of his van in case you don't have one.

Amazon was probably ecstatic that someone finally used their 'With installation' option. The employees in that department must've gotten mightily bored waiting for this moment the past few years.

For $200+ dollars, Bezos himself better be coming with his tool kit and thermal paste

Imagine the technician shows up and he's the exact guy from The Verge

No joke, that Amazon rep was outstanding. Empathetic, helpful, did everything in his power to help you out. That dude deserves a raise.

I'm glad to see the technician himself was as good as he is. He seems like a cool dude. Sucks that the company he works for is so crazy/bad to show a really low price on their site like that. I wish people like him could work at better companies. Sadly, amazon is taking over

So nice to see The Verge still getting memed after god knows how many years for that absolute slow-mo dumpster fire.

This is why it's important to learn how to do things yourself.

you can literally upgrade a piece of your gear with that kind of scam pricing.. that is ridiculous

All in all, seems like he did a pretty decent job. As for the pricing, that is definitely dishonest to advertise an estimate less than half what it actually costs, but I don't think this guy is to blame for that.

Surely everyone has a mate, or a brother, that does this stuff for a couple of pints and half a pizza? I know I do.

I'm most impressed by the MSI warning about the memory sticks. There's so much room for improvement in the BIOS level stuff, it's nice to see some vendor making an effort.

Even the Amazon call agent was like, "damn bro...you getting scammed for this one. $220 for a mobo install? pfft here's $50. I hope your day gets better my guy"

I love the honesty about the service you got and even though the price was a rip off you gave credit to the tech where it was earned

Great job! The look on your face when the tech booted up the PC knowing he installed the RAM incorrectly!
