I got arrested by an officer thomas in Chattanooga last year. They're assholes. Hamilton county jail is literally the worst jail ive ever been in by far, just an absolute decrepit mess with regular violence against the inmates from correctional officers. There was a guy in my initial holding cell that was puking blood because of alcohol withdrawal and it took them 5 hours to take him to the nurse despite myself and several other inmates banging on the door to get him help. We were crammed almost a hundred people into a room made for MAYBE 25 innmates for 5 days, no AC, and when the water jug ran out no matter how much you banged on the door and begged officers to bring water it'd be hours before they brought new ones. Edit: I forgot to add, some people weren't booked or given their bond amount until days after being arrested. The guy puking blood I mentioned had been locked up for 3 days before even being booked. Edit 2: I'm only writing this bc this comment is getting attention, but Im diagnosed schizophrenic and bipolar, and was taken in with a backpack full of my belongings and psychiatric medications, I was there for 2 months and was never once given my meds. Even after being moved to "the compound" which is just long term holding. So I was constantly having schizophrenic episodes bc the guards would not accept my requests to see the nurse or get access to medication. I was there for a violent crime so say what you will, but a lot of people I was in with were not there for violent crimes, just drugs, or petty misdemeanors, and we all got treated like we weren't human. When I finally got released and was given my possessions back they had thrown out all of my doctor prescribed meds, months worth of them. They were in my backpack when I came in, and they weren't in my backpack when I came out. All I gotta say is fuck Chattanooga PD and fuck Hamilton county jail. They're sadistic and treat inmates like animals.
