I love how your stepdad bit into that kaviar knäcke EXACTLY like a Swedish dad, with no thought whatsoever to the avalanche of crumbs it causes. 😆

Now you HAVE to come back to Sweden to pant the tomflaska!

"Nyponsoppa" (Rose hips soup) is typically Swedish. You can eat it warm as well with some whipped cream and "mandelbeskvier", small almond biscuits. It is both good as dessert or "mellanmål" (midday snack). It is also rich on vitamin C which most Swedes will need to stay alert during the long dark wintry season. 😉

I'm really impressed by how you and your family handled the Djungelvrål! Also, great channel - keep up the good work :)

Love your stepdad (especially because he likes liquorice). I can't eat boiled eggs without caviar or possibly lemon mayo because it doesn't taste anything otherwise. Also, the Swedish kaviar (whether Kalles or other brands) is called "creamed smoked fish roe" in the UK.

The rose hip soup is best served warm with vanilla ice-cream and some almond biskvier. And the blueberry is best warm aswell. Kalles is creamed cod roe.

Regarding the tooth fillings and Djungelvrål. I lost a tooth once to Djungelvrål, it broke apart and came out in pieces. Looking back at it now I'm confident the Djungelvrål was worth it. EDIT: Also shout out to Ron, handled the Djungelvråls with grace!

Blueberry soup is usually served warm. Back in the day you could get it at the work coffee dispenser as an option instead of coffee.

as for the Djungelvrål, it is not reagular salt but ammonium chloride (aka Salmiak)

A good thing about the tube cheese is that the shelf life is outstanding, in the fridge it stays edible forever even if the package is opened. And unopened in the shops, they are not even refrigerated but can last for several months at room temperature .. And if there are no cooling options, it also lasts a very long time even if it is opened, I have sailed and hiked in the summer with tube cheeses and they manage the time you are out even without a refrigerator .. 🙂

Djungelvrål and other salty licorice is a favourite, yum yum. Also really really tart candy like the sour skulls or sour S marks, wine gums and others. The rose hip soup is also delicious, served with mini macarons and whipped cream

Funny how something that we have grown up with, makes no sense to others. Tubed food is so natural to us haha. Arlene and Ron seems like the sweetest pair. Love that Ron just loves black licorice haha.

the fact that we use Tuber for things like soft foods and similar products is a lot because it gives a longer shelf life mixed than in other containers

Chocolate is special in Sweden and in fact large parts of Europe as we mostly actually eat milk chocolate (mixed with milk powder, coco butter and sugar the chocolate becomes milk chocolate) and that is what we love in Sweden and large parts of Europe!

Trocadero has a slight flavor of orange and apple. It was launched in 1953. Trocadero and Must is my all time favourite sodas. I drink much more of that than any Coke or Pepsi products. Daim is a knäck covered in chocolate. Knäck is something close to hardened caramel. I miss Räkost and Kräftost here in the US.

I would love to send a huge Hug to you and your family. What a good sport they where. I would never had taste something like Kalles Kaviar if i would not have been grew up with it from childhood. It is a taste someone really needs to grow into like. Very great video by the way. Love seeing how you handled this. Best regards from a Swede
