As a dude from Sweden where we can drink all public water and nobody even thinks about it, I nearly did die when I went to Thailand with my parents back in the 90's. Just did what I always did and grabbed a glass from the tap in the hotel sink. Tasted fine. 30 minutes later I was ejecting my insides violently. Got so dehydrated I had to spend two days in the hospital. Very memorable vacation.

Itโ€™s very funny that Mysta of all people would care, that dude is probably a solid percentage semi-sentient mold colony at this point.

The food and water poisoning duo: MysMi. Nijisanji can't stop their combined powers.

Thatโ€™s a perfectly safe thing to do here in Northern Europe (and I regularly do so at the airport - take an empty bottle through security and fill it from a bathroom sink) and should be perfectly safe in JP too. Very, very few sinks here donโ€™t use potable water, and those that donโ€™t always have big signs informing you of that.

As someone in Germany, I can't imagine not being able to drink tap water, makes you realize how much of a privilege that really is

As an American, I always grew up hearing: "No matter what country you travel to, never drink the tap water. Even if it's clean, there may be different microbes and stuff."

I think the main issue is not the water itself but the sink, faucet, doorknobs and other stuff of the toilet. Touching things in the toilet will contamine your hands, and the bottle because you have to manipulate it. I think is a "better safe than sorry" situation, public toilets sometimes can be very nasty

The funny thing is, if your a native or a local in a country already. You have this buff that even if u drink tap water, you wont be sick anymore lmao. Mika, l hope u learned something from prof's scolding๐Ÿ˜ญ

So for anyone that ever wanna travel to other countries, make sure you check if the tap water is drinkable for you. Not just drinkable, go to your doctor, and make sure that that countryโ€™s tap water is specifically drinkable for YOU. Even if a countryโ€™s tap water is perfectly fine for them, it can contain stuff that your body havenโ€™t build an immunity to as different countries can have different natural bacteria and such, which most people wonโ€™t consider when telling you that itโ€™s ok to drink. Or you can play it safe and just buy bottled water, since thatโ€™s usually safe, but obviously more costly

Maybe I've misunderstood, but if you're drinking from a sink in a bathroom, it's not about the water coming in, but about what other people have done in that sink, and what kind of matter might be caught on the faucet.

Fun story: it's the same water, in the US. The only gross part of it, is that it was in a bathroom area that bothers people... the water itself comes from the same pipes and is identical. It's just a psychological ick-factor. Water existing for a few seconds in a bathroom ain't bad. Mika did nothing wrong.

Here in Salt Lake, our tap water is perfectly fine. I usually get water from the kitchen tap, but I wouldn't be put off by tap from my bathroom sink. That said, humans are gross, so a tap in a public restroom would give me pause. ๐Ÿ˜‚

1:36 "Ya, I'm gonna go to the toilet and I'm gonna refill this bottle with water for you to drink." ...thought of something entirely different when she said that.
