On the ninth episode of The FADER Uncovered, host Mark Ronson is joined by Damon Albarn, a true musical polymath and the creative force behind both Blur and Gorillaz. Together they revisit Albarn’s 2007 FADER cover story, written around the release of a new album from one of Albarn’s many musical projects; The Good, The Bad & The Queen. They also talk about Albarn’s new opera, his musical education in Africa, the way funding for art has been affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what it feels like to headline Glastonbury twice in a row with different bands.

I feel so uncultured listening to Damon he just seems so wise and “studious”

Mark's accent is what happens when a Brit moves to New York City while they're still a kid. It's interesting to listen to...not quite a New Yorker's accent, but nothing like any British accent I know of either.

How out of touch does Fader have to be to put twenty ads on a single video?

In the off chance Damon, I'd ask maybe 10 minutes of your time on this, but: For the sake of simplicity, I will use "Asian" to simplify, but this is something most musicians do not understand. It is one of the most underrated issues. I have seen a few real and fake kung-fu movies that get a little into music during fighting. I would say in a world where consciousness is not generally understood, neither is energy. Any master should be able to possibly create and harness energy. Asian is the music that I have ever seen be able to effectively and also efficiently transfer music as energy and vice-versa. Let me say by no way am I diminishing any other style, genre, or sound (maybe a copper bowl dinged). The art has been lost. Use ur noodle and continue the study. You may hit pause to gain strength in other areas (chi is also energy and it is blocked throughout our bodies). Mr. Alban could attest to this from his study with African music history that I wish I knew even more of.

The host sound like he is stoned. How many times can you say "like" in one sentence?
