This is amazing, my grand father was beaten at school for speaking his native tongue, & it was almost completely lost to us children. anyway. it was troublesome to be seen as one of those “inferior” folk even if unspoken, a much darker time in the world of NZ I’m glad has passed. Such a beautiful way with words, A very poetic & powerful language, & the native pursuit for care of the land we depend upon.

Falling in love. Enjoy listening to te reo with her melodies. Crisp, clear, unrushed and not so many words squashed into a sentence. A Maori waiata we can learn to sing along. Reminds me of our kuia in the 70's telling stories to keep us entertained. Few words, maximum impact.

This makes me want to cry. Lorde is so true to her land and the people of it. She really understands life, and this inspires me so much, as a maori. And this furthers my appreciation for her. 🙌🏽☀️🌿
