I've always enjoyed how Mother 3 is still a sequel to EarthBound, but it does distance itself enough from the rest of the series where it can be played on its own, and I think you'd have just as good of an experience, barring some stuff like that room with all the presents and the giant hot spring, and the boat ride room with all the earthbound memorabilia. And generally with how opened ended some aspect about the game are, there are some things you can leave up to your imagination. Like Porky mentioning how he's traveled through space and time so much, this very well could be a different world altogether, where the only connecting factor between it and EarthBound's is Porky.
Great video, always happy to see someone talk about my favorite game.

I'm not going to watch very much of this one yet as I really do want to experience this game for myself, but congrats on finishing this absolutely massive retrospective series! I can tell just from the length of the video how much time and love you poured into this one. It can be exhausting to cover the topics we really care about, so I really appreciate when amazing videos like this are made. And you can bet I'll come running back to this video once I beat the game! Fantastic job with this series man!

to be honest i think part of me doesnt even want it to be localized, as the fan translation is immaculate, i just want this game to get the praise it deserves. i still gotta play Mother 1, as ive only played it for a couple of hours as it was the first one i tried before moving onto earthbound. i would absolutely kill for a claymation remake like the welcome to the world of mother 3 video, though

Mother 3 means a lot to me. I first played this during quarantine back in 2020. Life completely changed for me and I was all alone (despite being locked up with my family). During this time, my mind started spiraling but this game helped me get through it all. At this point I’ve played it almost 10 times. Let’s hope this game eventually gets an English localization.

I know I’m late, but to clarify, when the 64DD was first announced, the N64 cartridges were either 8 or 16MB; that’s why the 64MB drive, that was cheaper than the 8MB cartridge, was a great deal. By the time the 64DD was delayed and games transferred to the regular N64, it began having 32MB cartridges in 1998, and by 2000 ended up with the 64 MB option, that I understand few games took advantage of (because how expensive it was)

This take me back, back when I was finicky with seeing my characters in battle but gave EB and chance and love it about a year or so prior to the announcement of the Mother 3 translation patch. Downloaded and beat the game on a school computer and personal computer with a keyboard within a few months of its release. I think I've beaten it 2-3 more times since then and always finding new things, honestly surprised I overlook Leder telling about the memories sealing/erasing of the people that existed in EB prior to M3. That and how Hinawa was behind the haystack that saved Lucas after his jump in Chapter 6.
Finally, gonna butcher them a little but the lines that have stuck with me the most where:
Hinawa: Claus you must be so tired, come to your mother.
Claus: Sorry brother, I'm now going to where mom is.
Flint: Your brother was being hasty, you will forgive him, right Lucas.

Note: Keep in mind that the "Spoiler Free" section still contains gameplay spoilers, just nothing about the story. Worth noting in case you don't want to see things from later chapters. Correction: I mistakenly stated that a certain spoiler-y boss was planned to be in the game. This is not true. It's a fan theory as far as I'm aware.
