I love how the rhythm between each "exhale" and "inhale" is fast, almost overlapping each other. So it's not just a "breath", it's almost desperation, reaching out for air, hiperventilating. Just try breathing following as Aurora sings, and you'll see. There's this feeling of urgency, and it really fits with the overall theme of the way us humans are changing nature, and how we should worry about the consequences of this.

Hello to everyone from Sky! It was a pleasure to experience the concert with you all- I think by far the most emotional part for me was in between songs, I started crying- and moments later Aurora said 'Its okay to cry'. The whole experience was absolutely magical- though the real magic is knowing I was able to share the experience with so many people all at once, so many lights burning together in harmony to a melody that reached us all deep inside-
Truthfully a magical experience that I thank Aurora, ThatGameCompany, And all of you for! ♡

To me this song is about humanity's calmness and apathy to our destruction of our world.
When people are trying to calm down they are told to inhale and then exhale. This song is telling us to exhale and then inhale. Try doing it in time with her words (if you are in a safe space and have no health issues) and I can tell you it is not a calming experience. But the song sounds so peaceful? Listen to the lyrics. Exhale and then inhale. Feel some urgency to end our destruction. If not us then who? When?

This feels like a personal "I know everything is scary, it is scary to live, I am with you, you need not be afraid as I will hold your hand" sort of solidarity song. I don't know if that's how its meant to be interpreted, but! It's absolutely gorgeous! Thank you Aurora, I needed this today, as I'm going through some scary stuff in my life right now. This is just what I needed <3

When she starts singing "exhale inhale" it really feels like she is exhaling and then inhaling, trying to find a sparkle of calmness in this madness.
Why are we so superficial at times? Why do we just hear and never listen? Why can't we notice the alarm? The alarm of our planet. The Earth is calling us, warning us, dying.
Please, let's all stop for a moment to appreciate this masterpiece and open our eyes. Let's stop ignoring the mess we've made. Lets find the courage to heal our home.
We are wasting this wonder and everyone pretends not to.
The sirens are singing and nobody is understanding what is happening.

I can’t get over the fact that the „inhale/exhale“ is ironically paradox in this composition. The way it’s sung the „inhale“ is actually a long exhale, and the „exhale“ sounds like a gasp. And if you switch the both and breathe with that it actually calms you down (a long exhale calms our heartbeat). If you breathe as she is saying it increases the anxiety. I don’t know though if that was somehow intentional or artistic freedom hah

One of my favorite things about Aurora is her stance on climate change, im very passionate about animals and the earth, I find myself crying to these songs even if I don't like this one as much as "the seed" it still hits just as hard. I remember crying for two hours straight watching David Attenborough's "witness statement" it was a sorrow filled truth and I cried so much for the earth. Aurora's music gives me just as much emotion as that day did and I love that about her, no matter if I do or don't like the song it still calls up this human emotion I didn't know was buried in me.

Lyrics
I was a moving thing
Before I was a human being
I was the ice before it melts
I was the tree before it fell
My dear, come near
Do you understand what is happening?
Crawl beneath the earth
To feel the hunger and the thirst
If you could fly and be the bird
Then you would see the forest burn
My dear, come near
Do you understand what is happening?
Who is calling me
For the emergency?
Who is listening
To the sirens singing?
We are stood and somehow calm
Within the madness of a storm
With no solution for the scared
Tasting pollution in the air
My dear, come near
Do you feel my hand? It is there
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Exhale, inhale
Who is calling me
For the emergency?
Who is listening
To the sirens singing?
Take from our world no more
Take from my world no more
Take from our world no more
Take from my world no more
