Idk why but despite the fact that the tune's upbeat, this song makes me sad. It's like the moment of realization that you love a person so much that you are willing to do anything even to the point where you change who you are just to conform to their standards or needs "I started painting the walls just to see if you like the shade". "And I was opening the door just to see if you would walk through", this somehow has different meanings depending how you see it I guess, it could be like you wanted to see if they'll do the same thing for you, but they just don't and that feeling and love isn't reciprocated.
