Story 2: OP should have been sent back to her parents long ago. It shouldn’t have gotten to the point she’s harassing her sister to tears.

Story 1: “ he’s into cars” my brother was super into cars when he was 18 years old I was not into cars when I was 18 years old Guess what? My parents both helped us get cars when we hit 18 years old. You don’t have to be in the car to need a car. That’s just the most idiotic excuse ever.

Isn’t it wonderful how everyone ignored OP said his son works hard and daughter doesn’t. Switch the sexes and see how Reddit would be applauding the OP for getting his hard working daughter a better gift!

Being too harsh on a 15 yo who drove drunk and injured another teen? And fiance wants OP to allow this same teen to go to another party? Maybe show him the photos and videos of crashes that resulted from drunk driving.

Hear me out on my justifications for buying my twin son a 10K car and the twin daughter $300 gift card. Couldn't even be bothered enough to buy the daughter a gift. A gift card. 'I did what was best for both of them' lol.

Plastic surgery story. I looked the same at 47 as I did in my 20s. But I’ve had 3 back surgeries since then and pain definitely ages you.

Last story: okay first, if you're going to ground someone you take everything away, especially since the crime is underage drinking petty theft and landing her friend in the hospital. Don't tell her she can't go anywhere but leave her with a bunch of fun stuff to play with, if anything your punishment isn't strict enough. Her friends knew she was grounded they should have canceled their postpone the party, is she clearly won't be learning her lessons and she committed a crime she should have been erected for and it leads suspended but all she got was a half-ass grounding.

The comentor who said OP was the AH for bringing her nephew to class must be the same person who wrote the dress codes for high school 🙄

Story 2 - YTA. Even before the crash, OP just sounded in the wrong, pressuring her stressed out sister for things she wants but doesn’t need and not helping around with chores while getting an allowance. “She wasn’t hurt that badly just a mid concussion.” I’m sorry, how did pulling over result in crashing the car that bad? I doubt they’re going to make OP pay them back since she already is just kind of a mess but I’d be so mad. Every time she’s asked to do anything she goes to the sister hoping sister will let her off the hook, and honestly, she needs to go live back with her parents. I’m sure it’s the exact same reason why she wants to live with her sister who struggles to put her foot down, parents ask her to do chores and she hates doing them so much she’ll just not go home to avoid them.

Story 4: I can understand your classmates frustrations if he was a nuisance and what disrupted during class, but to me if someone I knew who didn't bring kids to school suddenly had a kid with them in class I would probably assume they didn't have any other option. Nothing happened and you had no other options I would prefer a classroom without children but this was an emergency.

Wow! To get a $300 gift card would’ve blown my mind. Should be glad she got such an amazing gift. However if Op has that kind of money then they should’ve both gotten a car.

Story 1: Its funny how the son is rewarded on his birthday and we hear so much about him but nothing on the girl. Nothing about her grades and just "she's into clothes and make up stuff but not really anything specific" and "she's been asking me for money". Like OP is passive aggresively punishing the daughter on her birthday and is clueless to what the problem is. A $10,000 used car (for 10k must've not been that used) that will last for years and he can sell later to get some money back compared to a 300$ giftcard. And even worse is that dad told him before the bday and they had a whole shopping trip.

Why isn't it sexist that the brother in story 1 didn't get free shopping sprees for years like the sister?

Story 1: OP if you didn't see this coming then you clearly don't pay attention. I can understand getting your son a car because he might need it more since he has a job and does all these responsibilities. But you spending 10K on one kid and 300 on the other then presented both gifts at the same time, it's pretty hard not to compare the two or come to the conclusion you clearly have a favorite kid. Like your daughter probably saw this and thought, you put time money and effort into your son remembered you had a daughter and just spent the leftover money and got her a meaningless gift card that shows you know nothing about her. Also there was nothing stopping you from asking your daughter about her interest or what she might want for her birthday, you not knowing it's completely on you.

$10000 vs $300? Yeah, you have a golden child, OP!

1) The blatant discrepancy between what the son got and the daughter got is worlds apart and it is astounding that OP thinks this isn't showing favoritism and was justified to do this. $10,000 for the son and $300 for the daughter ... this was not, "what was best for each of them" ... absolute BS. YTA. 2) I was thinking that OP should stop intruding on her sis and the fiance, but as she is there she should definitely be pulling her weight and not taking sis into indulging her wants, but then to hear she totaled the car and sis was injured because she refused to pull over right away when asked. OMG ... OP needs to GTFO of their home. She is so immature, selfish, harmful, and the opposite of reasonable. I realize she is a kid, but she needs to start behaving better and stop being such a spoiled brat. 3) This sounds like the GF thinking she needed to have herself altered to such a degree is unfortunate, and now OP younger sis seems to have the same issue. It's sad. 4) Oh good grief, OP had permission to bring him and that is all that matters. Ignore the AH's who are griping, what a bunch of babies; seems like OP's nephew is more mature than some classmates, and it's good he is now already looking forward to going to college some day. NTA. 5) Grounding is the least of what should happen for what she did. She needs to learn there are consequences to actions. NTA. Why is fiance even thinking he should weigh in on this as OP did not say he is her father. She is lucky there weren't criminal charges, that she didn't get suspended from school, that she wasn't injured. He punishment is already a just a slap on the wrist.
