I would absolutely love a drum department episode that goes back in the sound booth to show some good "dos and dont's" of audio EQ for drums and some advice on how to help get some ring out of the snare with the sound board, set up mics so they pick up other parts of the kit, etc. I work with a church group that does not really know how to correctly mic and EQ the drums, and it would also be nice to help with any recording stuff at home on how to help get the sound you want.

I would say the biggest development in 2024 was an epic video by El Estepario where he did a double kick setup with a Duellist single/ double pedal on each kick. With that setup, El Estepario brought double kicks up to 300+ BPM on a double kick setup. This has changed the Speed Metal/ Grindcore Metal Game. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2-3 double kick drummers with that El Estepario configuration on the double kicks at Wacken this year. I think a TON of Speed Metal drummers are going to jump on that setup.
I would also like to see guys like Ronald Bruner Jr., Chris Coleman, Borlai and Gartska incorporate that configuration-even if it's a one time only video. Just to show how time permutation/ beat displacement can be incorporated into this kind of wild double kick configuration.I'd like to see Bozzio have a go at developing new exercises-like applying Bozzio's Rudiments from Hell to the Duellist double kick config.

I think we're going to see another style of music and drumming getting some new appreciation. The same way Greyson Nekrutman made jazz and big band cool again, I think we're going to see the same thing happen, but with another style of music. It will be cool to discover or re-discover other types of drumming, to make us drummers better at drumming and music.

I doubt it, not in like them making a full band, but him appearing as a guest drummer on an Lifeson/Lee album.
I honestly reckon Alex and Geddy will write new music and get a whoâs who of drummers to appear on the album, so it will include Danny, Mangini, Portnoy, Gavin Harrison, among other phenomenal progressive rock drummers.

Your Rock drummer of the year for 2023, Paulina Villarreal of The Warning will breakout with her new album that is coming out starting Feb 2 and more to follow. Paulina is also the principle song writer for the group so she would be a great interview for you guys. She also sings lead while drumming. They started as a completely independent band before being signed by Lava records.
