For an afternoon talk show Mike Douglas booked some cool people, Billy Carter aside. I remember coming home from school and seeing Patti Smith and her band. That blew me away! Life changing.

I saw her as an opening act for a band. I didn't know who she was but when she started to sing "Candles in the rain I was done. I couldn't forget her. I was in awe of her. I fell in love. What a beautiful person inside and out. I got to meet her in the 90s as a much older person and she was funny and gracious.

You could not meet a more humble person. She took everything she had for fame with a grain of salt. Her humanity always shone through in her conversations. There will never be anyone like her ever again ❤️
