I got into this series by total accident. I had the Genesis collection on my Switch, I was bored so I played Mean Bean Machine just to see how far I can get. I ended up beating the thing! Since then I've when out of my way to play games that I've never given much of glance. Puyo Puyo is a series I love, it's my comfortgame when I can't think of anything to play.

The off difficulty balancing's why I prefer other puzzle games, but Puyo Puyo's grown on me. My favorites being Klax (Really curious what you think about it) and Tetris Attack.
As for SNES Online, hopefully when I return we resume our DKC2 playthrough, and possibly DKC3 (Can't believe it's turning 25 in November). Expect me to return either late June or mid July, hopefully in a consistently better mindset.

As a Puyo expert myself, it was interesting to see a noob review this game. (And yes I did cringe at your playing skills) and this was a great review overall since you got Puyo Puyo's overall appeal.
Also for more officially localized Puyo fun I would recommend checking out Everybody Puyo Puyo/Puyo Pop (GBA), Puyo Puyo Fever (GCN, DS), and both of the Puyo Puyo Tetris games (there available on every current platform).
That's not even talking about ports of the first 2 games like Puyo Pop on the Neo Geo Pocket Color and the Sega Ages versions of Puyo Puyo 1 and 2 on Switch.
