Bret’s promos were as intense as his matches and the storylines were captivating!

Other than Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, Bret is probably the only other guy who could work a safe match, take care of their opponent, and still make it look like an actual fight… like he was REALLY attacking a body part as he would in real life. Shawn may have been more flashy, but Bret was CREDIBLE and I preferred watching the Hitman.

Bret was an amazing amazing performer! Proud to say I grew up in that era…I remember being thrown off when we went from the Hogan era to the Bret (new generation) era. Looking back Bret was ahead of his time and could work in any era!

I always knew wrestling was entertainment watching as a kid but when Brett did his promos I honestly thought it was real. When he went off and start trash talking was awesome! Only time I actually thought it wasn't a promo! He was one of the greats!

The other times he's talked about this he says it was the 2009 Shawn vs. Undertaker match which made him want to go back.

Wish Bret and Shawn could have gotten along. They could have had a series of unparalleled matches. Their styles made for such an interesting story.
