Theme From an Imaginary Western is a FANTASTIC one from Leslie. It’s probably in the top 10 or 20 solos of all time I’d say.

Nice lesson. That song also has one of the greatest openings.

Back in the day Mississippi Queen was a game changer. As was Nantucket Sleigh Ride. Good choice.

Great lesson. Nicely planned. Good flow. The graphic of which bar that you’re playing over is extremely helpful. I always learn at least one new thing from your vids. Thank you.

I love your lessons Ian. Keep up the good work. It’s very valuable to us. FYI, I saw Mountain play a concert at The Long Beach Arena (LA County) in 1975 when I was 16 years old. Leslie West and Corkie Laing (sp?) were awesome, but who really blew me away was Felix Pappalardi (sp?). His lines were both powerful and melodic. Up to that point I only understood bass parts to be rhythmic and highlight the chord progressions. That concert was the first time I noticed beautiful bass playing. Years later (when I took up the bass) I realized that, being born in 1958, I was weaned on beautiful bass through Motown on the radio, not having heard the name James Jameson.

Always a pleasure to see and hear you. I Love Leslie. This takes me back many years and brain cells ago. Enjoy your Trip--Silverton and that whole part of the state is a treasure to behold. (Makes me think I should get in my truck and go for a short drive south.) Enjoy and keep your eyes filled with the beauty. Stay Well.

Great lesson. Loved the way you explained each Barre and the on screen Barres as you went through the licks. Smart man, that's why people keep coming back for lessons. Thanks

You are the best! I have been focusing on learning this. He brilliantly moved between major and minor. No one explains the structure of a song like you do. The Frampton jam was incredible!

Been toying with this song for years trying to riff to the rhythm like Leslie. Thanks so much for demystifying it for me.

I Love What You Do - however - the ONLY solo that matters is the one on the original release in 1970! Period! Within 2 months, 2 of my favorite Rock songs - EVER - American Woman and Mississippi Queen! Wow! What an impact those 2 songs made on Rock ‘n Roll! I still get the same feeling WHENEVER I hear those songs! Like I said, Love What You Do! Keep Up the Great Work!
