Ya know man, as a listener of music, you've really unlocked an algorithm for how to listen to music too. Understanding the call and response within a single measure. I'm actually hearing your discovered method in other types of music, not just SRV. Thanks for that. I appreciate you sharing with the world. You should be proud!
P.S. I've been a Vai-Satch shredder for 30 years, this has genuinely enlightened me.

This is a really good video/ point- the fact that it's much more into what his "psychology" or mind set is in the licks he created instead of just learning more licks is HUGE! I really like this approach- you're correct- it's really fun to play this way dividing the measures up and the end result sounds much more "Stevie" then when I just play chord tones- which sounds too "jazz" to me. I love introducing the measure with chord tones and wrapping up the measure with Pentatonic- whether it's root pentatonic or chord tone Pentatonic (like off the IV and V chords when each pass by) - so may lessons talk about using chord tones and ignoring scales- but they all sound like jazz players and I'm not into that- this sounds like SRV all day long! Love it! The Pentatonic "Blues-es" up the phrases but when you use the chord tones at the beginning of each measure you can hear the changes without any background backing track at all. Lovely.

So let me just say this. This lesson is NOT about Stevie Licks, or necessarily his "style". It is about his TENACITY. This is how to get that non stop push and pull that I associate with SRV. His style and flow are sooooo unique to him and of course I can always try to make a video about that, but for now, this video is about TENACITY and content of notes. Enjoy!!!
