Our Foundations of Humane Technology course community is made up of over 10,000 people around the world. We recently invited six community members to share the platforms, apps, organizations, and initiatives they’re building to catalyze a more humane future.

In this special presentation, you’ll hear from:
02:16 - Steven Crane – Behavior Designer, Sunny (gosunny.org/)
11:22 - Nidhi Sudhan – Co-Founder, Citizen Digital Foundation (citizendigitalfoundation.org/)
19:04 - Daniel Hartley - Contributor, Pledge Works (responsibletech.work/blog/2022/3/1/pledge-works-wr…)
26:33 - Bev Klau – Founder, CEO, and Chief Curator, Verbina App (verbina.app/)
37:20 – Greta McAnany – Co-Founder and CEO, Blue Fever (bluefever.com/)
48:02 – Dani Bicknell – Senior Program Manager, Headstream (www.headstreaminnovation.com/)

Note: Participation in this event does not imply endorsement of an individual or entity by Center for Humane Technology. Humane technology is a direction of movement, not an end goal, and what’s humane today might not be tomorrow. We are grateful to these presenters for their thoughtfulness, vulnerability, and inspiration!

This live event took place on June 2, 2022 as part of our Foundations of Humane Technology course community event series. You can attend these events live by signing up for the course (it’s free) at humanetech.com/course.

Kellen Klein is Course Manager at Center for Humane Technology and moderated the conversation.

These are fantastic! I wish to remind everyone that while the tech can help us develop good habits, ultimately what is beneficial are the good habits. Every single one of us can greatly improve society by fostering altruism a little bit everyday or every week. 1. Advocate altruism 2. Organize it with Free Collaboration Networks that meet people's needs and 3. Teach others to do this. Us who know that helping others is good need to wake up and realize that MOST people and MOST of society still don't know that helping others is good, despite how obvious that is to us. We are all stuck in the dog eat dog system and therefore helping others is not beneficial to our competitiveness. Another thing most people don't realize is that helping others means MEETING THEIR NEEDS, physical, emotional, psychological and social. Once most people understand these two things society improves at an accelerating rate. We got this!

Maybe people should ask whether they want platforms such as Facebook or Twitter to support the "survival" instincts and materialism...or the spiritual, creative, and philosophical values, like arts, music, travel, and sports, when it's not about quantity but quality. When you travel you don't desire quantity but the quality of experience. As the people who do mediation say...There is no bad mediation. it's about wholeness and connection it's not about quantity and perfection. They say When you feel whole you don't want anything, How can you want anything if you feel whole. Therefore we need something from nature, music, arts, creativity, philosophies, and old ways that work, combined with some new ways.
