Been thinking a lot lately about the ghosts of places - my childhood home that's been demolished, my grandparents' home that was also demolished and turned into condos, the building for a job I loved that got liquidated and taken over by a bargain retailer that has let the building completely deteriorate, the job I work at now that has a plaque in the lobby commemorating the hotel that burned to the ground on the spot a century ago. Thinking about how even landscapes change with time until even memories of what they used to be is gone. Thinking about how life is the inheritance of the living and how the ghosts of the past linger. What do we owe to the ones who came before us?

Magnificent! I have PTSD and this kind of reminds me of feeling "stuck" in the muscle memory of trauma. Logically, we know we arent reliving the same thing over and over, but our bodies react as if we were from something as minor as a smell or word or a piece of clothing. Beautiful song!
