Yea. That story telling style would be something completelly unique and would set it aside from all of the other fantasy shows like legend of the seeker or the wheel of time.
And that would allow them to stay fateful to the material, and pick and choose any and all events they would want without needing to worry about timeline.

Awesome concept, I would consider doing Aragorns journey before the first book, particularly during his time in the far south in Harad. Lots of chances to bring in new characters and a new story. Still, I like your idea more, it gives weight for a story when a legacy character is telling it.

There are so many characters already in the book, they would have never needed to make up characters and even less so for virtue signaling.
