Sneak peek from Jack Antonoff's Inside the Track series, in which he shows you how he (insert what he does 'mixes" produces".

We’re very proud to present our first video release with songwriter, musician, and record producer Jack Antonoff! In this series, we learn about how the versatile creator got involved in songwriting, recording, and production, and progressed from his analog roots to current approaches and techniques. Antonoff imparts his opinions and philosophy on such vital matters as vocal style vs. lyrics, writing sessions, capturing emotion and space, analog vs. digital equipment, simultaneously writing and producing, committing to takes and sounds, collaboration, sharing a vision, avoiding vocal booths, mixing your own productions, and more. He dives into the multi-track session of ‘The Greatest’ by Lana Del Rey, taking you through the initial guitar chord progression from which the song was developed, early demo material, unusual decisions regarding instrumentation and levels, lyrical arrangement, and a variety of parts that includes acoustic guitars, piano, Mellotron, drums, cellos, synthesizers, vocals, and electric sitar!

Dudes a true producer, in the old school sense. Like a George Martin, or a Ted Templeman. Norma F’n Rockwell and the latest 1975 album are legit brilliant

"He has served as the co-writer or co-producer on albums by Taylor Swift, Lorde, Kevin Abstract, The Chicks, Lana Del Rey, and St. Vincent, and has written and produced individual tracks for artists including Pink, Sara Bareilles, Fifth Harmony, Troye Sivan, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Sia, among many others."

I love that he doesn’t like vocal booths. It makes sense to not be fixated on the vocal alone as it is the arrangement of the whole thing. He uses it as a an add on at times. He prioritizes the feeling and Sonics and adds in the vocals. He is very authentic in creating and I appreciate that.

So true. There’s a sweet spot in songwriting where the song & lyrics mature just enough, but you haven’t lost the spontaneity yet. It’s rarely perfect.

So happy that Fun. ended so this guy could really show the world what hes capable of. One of the greatest to do it in the 2010s. Cant wait to see who he works with next. As a musician, hes one of the only producers i know of who i just know we would have amazing artistic chemistry. What a fascinating special person
