I brushed my teeth and got ready for bed eventually, after procrastinating for too long listening to lofi music and reading my favorite book. I got in bed, and a smile came upon my face, but for no particular reason. This is happening more often in the last few months. I'm grateful for it. Therapy sure has helped. After I finally found a good therapist, I'm starting to win my long battle against depression. I should just stop overthinking. It's self care day, I remind myself. I snuggle up with my blanket and try my best to fall asleep, but to no avail. I can't help it. I reach a hand out to my desk, reach for my book and unpause the lofi music on my laptop. I open the pages, and just read in a little peace for a while with the quiet beat of lofi. After a while, my eyelids heavy. I get annoyed I can't stay awake for longer, but then I give in to the fatigue.
One eyelid closes.
Then the other.

This is a mood. I'd kill to live in this atmosphere for eternity. Just imagine, late at night, you're tired but relaxed, listening to smooth music, dozing off as you hear the soft pitter patter of light rainfall. The warmth of your heavy blanket holds you close, the chilled air tickling your hands and face, but you dont feel cold, only refreshed. Your weary mind recalls past moments with friends, and your thought turn to your crush and you wonder how they're doing. You cozy up into your blanket, arms wrapped around your pillow, not too warm but not too cool. A small smile plays across your face as you fall into a deep deep sleep, and you dream of what could be...

Its almost midnight for me, so I just want to put this out here for people who need it.
Those who are studying: Take a break, drink some water, and read something to give yourself a brain break. You've got this, I believe in you!
Those who are drawing/painting: Drink some water (not your paint water-), get a small snack like a granola bar or a yogurt cup, maybe even a popsicle, and just take a small minute to reflect on your artwork. Trust the process. See what needs to be improved, and notice the small things that make your art unique. Praise yourself. You're doing amazing, and your art will be wonderful.
Those who are struggling/coping: Listen, and please hear me out. Things get worse before they get better, and sometimes it'll happen in cycles. You will be okay in time, you just have to be willing to put in the effort. I know, it's harder said than done, believe me, but it will be okay. Things DO get better, and you WILL feel normal again. No matter what trauma, stress, heartbreak, or anxiety you are going through right now, you will come out of the other side. You have passed and lived through 100% of your worst moments, worst days, worst weeks, months, years, ect. I believe in you, please keep fighting, not for anyone else, but for yourself, because little You had a dream, and it won't be put to waste.

If you're out there and listen to lofi a lot, just like me, I hope to one day meet you. And if I never do, always know that I'm always bumping my head to some chill beats, just like you 💛
Love you, man. You're never alone. Keep your chin up, and your head held high. Take care 🤙
