Despite Dunkirk being based on true events, many of the characters are fictional to my understanding, thus it is not a true biopic. Also note, IMAX film is acquired in 65mm and projected in 70mm. sometimes I use these terms interchangeably in the video.

Audiences want fresh stories like this, I’m convinced of that. The problem is that the industry has become convinced any film grossing less than $1 billion is a failure. This leaves little space for original stories, biopics, indies… and pretty much any project that isn’t guaranteed to be a mega-earner. I hope that incredible filmmakers like Christopher Nolan can lead the charge to reset cinema to the way it should be.

The more AI takes over, I think the more we will want authenticity, genuine and real stories. From movies, to advertising, to everyday life.

As a filmmaker - I deeply appreciate your sentiments about this movie possibly triggering a comeback to traditional film culture as a whole

its one of the rare films that i actually want to watch multiple times to digest every aspect of it. as a sound engineer by training, i absolutely adored what they did with the music and mixing.

Pretty sure everybody came to see Cillian Murphy finally get the fame he deserves. The man is a phenomenal actor and a true artist, he's one of the few celebrities that actually gives a shit about their work and not the money.

The 'theatrical window' I'm afraid will be restricted to directors like Nolan who have the power to enforce it on the studios, because I can tell you that streaming services, especially those like amazon prime, are absolutely ravenous for new films to show on their platforms. I am, however, very much looking forward to watching Oppenheimer on the big screen here in the UK.

Oppenheimer was the first ever movie to let me sit at the end credits staring out in front ofmyself trying to let the movie sink in. It made me feel how serious trinity was and the creation of atomic bombs and their tremendous impact on modern day society

Nolan casually making masterpieces every now and then, and building an empire of his own in the industry.

For me, "Dunkirk" was Nolan's first big foray into real world events. The movie shines a light on the divergence between story telling and film making that can periodically happen with some directors. Nolan has such an inclination and he seems to be leaning into it. In the case of "Dunkirk", it was a beautifully realized cinematic chronicle. Light on story. The use of IMAX for "Oppenheimer" tends to suggest the movie leans toward a cinematic chronicling.

This is the first time in years I have been this excited for a movie (I’m a history nerd) so seeing a movie being made about such a historical even is just amazing

Love it or hate it, Oppenheimer AND Barbie are going to heavily impact filmmaking forever. Hollywood is at a major turning point in its history, superhero films are not instant box blowups. You can't just feed people IP anymore. Top Gun Maverick was the precursor, but I genuinely believe these TWO movies (I'm being so serious about Barbie) will be the what The Avengers was in 2012. And I simply cannot wait for this new era!

I mean intentional or not the marketing alone for Oppenheimer is spectacular, releasing it on the same day as a polar opposite type of film, Barbie, spurring pop culture to produce memes and an audience rivalry. Masterclass.

3:36 - Oppenheimer is actually Nolan's 2nd film based on true events, after Dunkirk.

I think its amazing how many actors have said in interviews that they signed up without reading the script. They have so much trust in Nolan and respect for his filmography that they just wanted to be part of it. And for me I'm exactly the same. I'm all in when it comes to watching a Nolan film because I know he's the Spielberg of our time but maybe even stands alone. To speak of the historical context, who wouldn't be excited to see one of the most critical persons of history expressed on screen.

Videos like this are really important. Oppenheimer was on my 'I'll watch it 3 years from now on whatever streaming platform' list, but as a result of seeing your video and now understanding the importance of the film and what went into it, I am 1000% going to go see it in IMAX while it's in theaters. Thanks for making this!

I was just talking with my partner about how movies like "Seabiscuit" were HUGE growing up but wouldn't work in today's climate because of how theatres only do superheroes and disney now. It warms my heart to see people picking creative and grounded stories and see people excited to go see it.

I'm hoping this is the beginning of the shift away from superhero movies as well. The cinema needs more variety, but at the same time, the big studios pumping out endless superhero content could use a reality check.

Having just watched Oppenheimer today, I believe it's going to break records. In short, I could not take my eyes off the screen and the tension during the Trinity test was insane.
