under bed shoes storage container has been great. holds 15 shoes for my 22 year old with adhd. really working on getting the room cozy for "chill" area

I use smart lightbulbs and Alexa to turn on and off the lights. I LOVE my blackout curtains - they really work to provide a better night's sleep. I also clip charging cables on the wall at the top of my short headboard for easy access (the pillows hide the clip and cords). Great ideas!

You mentioned not to buy matching bedroom pieces.
When my first ex and I were furnishing our new home (1980s), we fell in love with a particular design style. When it came to the dining room, not finding a different style we liked, we went with the same design as our bedroom. Matchy matchy squared!

I plug my bedside lamp into a small device that plugs into the wall outlet. It allows me to turn the lamp on and off with a tiny remote that rests on my bedside table. Much easier than reaching up to the lamp's switch.
