Thomas Jefferson is often attributed with the profound quote "when injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty". With that in mind, when copyright laws are unjust, piracy necessarily becomes our civic duty.

Sony spokesperson basically said "No one care about old games" when asked about archiving. Ever since I felt no shame in pirating old Sony games. If they don't care then why should I?

As a Russian guy, who works in video game industry, I want to say that the sole reason of why I pursue this career is because I played pirated games as a child.
I'm not some big creative genius on a big position, but any contribution I make to this industry, however small, is in some sense due to piracy.

There was a DRM story in 2020 When there was a shortage of medical ventilators hospital staff wanted to switch parts between them to make 2 damaged ones into one working one. This was impossible without a keycode input by a licensed company technician onsite.
Unfortunately there were not enough company staff employed to do this role due to unexpected demand. The problem was 'solved' by a Pirate sending out Ventilator access codes to hospitals in various electronic consumer goods to plug in and allow staff to make their own repairs.

People getting sued out of existence by legal fees even in spite of winning the case is the most disgusting thing I've seen about the court system.
Just goes to show it's the accusation that matters, not the verdict (and whichever side has more money of course).
