I dont understood a damn but how beautiful everything, 10/10. Putting an Ai from a parallel world was the best decision they could make since this helps the viewer to appreciate more her relationship with Koito and her doubts about Sawaki-sensei.

When parallel Ai disappears, she has her X hairpin but right before she has the triangle hairpin. Was that a way to show at the last moment that our Ai was protected by Parallel Ai or is that just a mistake ?

for anyone confused, i tried my best to put this in chronological order:
at 0:07, o!ai (our ai) is knocked out, causing a brief lapse in memory. at 0:34, the perspective switches over to p!ai (parallel ai), right after o!ai was knocked out, hence why she still has both eyes at 0:56. p!ai decides to protect o!ai, and there’s a brief time jump, which is when the boomerang lady takes p!ai’s left eye, which is why she has it at 0:15. p!ai dies at 1:11, and o!ai wakes up at 0:19, unharmed.

EXPLANATION:
Basically, PAi (Parallel Ai) fights instead of Ai, after she got knocked out in the first scene.
All this direction choice of this whole scene was to emphasize the fact that, this two Ais are the same person after all, they're two sides of the same coin, so it doesn't matter. The direction for this anime is really great, btw... except for episode 13.
