So as a homebrewer, I have some explanations for you. For the Weissbier (or Hefeweizen), the reason you taste banana is because the yeast used to make it does actually produce the same ester that is found in bananas. It also produces a phenol found in cloves. You can actually change the balance between those two flavors by regulating the temperature at which it ferments.

I genuinely mean this as a compliment: I love how chaotic this video gets as it progresses 😂 the slow unhinging as more beers are consumed paired with no script just feels so authentic and funny. “Are you dicking with me right now?!” I love watching along as if we’re all just friends hanging out!
Sending hugs and positivity ❤ hoping everyone is feeling okay

Lived and worked in Munich. All of my exchange student friends from the University were drinking Augustiner Helles. Very easy to drink, no bitterness or harsh aftertaste. I always describe it to my friends in the US as refreshing. Also works incredibly well with a lemonade Radler. Think you both will enjoy it!

Bitburger is my all-time favorite. When I was in the USAF stationed in Germany6 (Spangdahlem) I lived in Bitburg base housing. From my 4th floor apartment, the Bitburger brewery was straight ahead about ~1Km away. It was the go-to for all of my co-workers and I still find it the US today. The Becks in the US is NOT from Germany but is brewed in St. Louis. The Paulaner Weissbier is the "Naturtub" style which I believe is "natural" and unfiltered. This is one of my favorites. On my most recent visit to Germany (2021 to Miltenberg) I tried the Flensburger Pils which I also enjoyed. The Jever is a good pils. I also first tried it at Spangdahlem as the German Luftwaffe at Jever was a Sister squadron to our unit. Overalll, my favorites are generally Pils. Two smaller breweries I tried were Schappesepel in Aschaffenburg & Faust in Miltenberg. Give them a try. Prost!

My first experience with German beer, was Bitburger. When I saw you break that out, I immediately died laughing remembering how bitter it is. But I really like the Paulaner and Warsteiner. If I come to Dusseldorf, I definitely want to try that local brew. Now to really offend people, I never really considered Beck's a German beer because of how common it is in the US.

😂🤣😂 That was amazing. Y'all are so funny. But we need to add some Sächsisch beers to your tasting. Since we moved to Leipzig, some of my go to's have been the Leipziger Gose, Ur-Krostitzer, Köstritzer (I love dark beers), and popular and cheap around here is Sternberg. I'm sure there's still so many more to try (and I'm open to recommendations!)
If you guys ever make your way back to Leipzig, beer is on me!

My beer drinker heart is bleeding. And you say that you're a beer connoisseur...
But a huge advice for both of you: Try "Helles", especially Tegernseer Hell.
Helles tastes a bit like Pils (which is the best and that's not debatable) but it's a bit softer and less bitter. It could be something for both of you.
If you need further beer advices regarding Pils and Helles, I'm your man :D
Cheers from the Ruhr area ;)
