Yeah the techno fuetalusm thing is a good point. And leads into a general point that blockchains are I’ll suited for fin tech. There slow, finicky, and difficult to adjust when circumstances change. All things you general done want for currency.
I think is kind of funny that most of the actual use cases for an append only public ledger are not fintech related and almost always related to physical goods.
Proof of ownership of physical goods for instance. Car titles that can be transferred peer to peer but still monitored governmentally to avoid tax evasion or more souracbld proof of authenticity or origin for something like art or conflict minerals. These are notable for benefiting and or requiring centralization and identify connection.
Blockchain tokens as money though isn’t one of those use cases.
I think the obsession with both money tokens and purely digital nft collectibles stems from a certain disdain for the actual among hard core block chainers and the fetishistic obsession with decentralization
I guess as a software dev I see potential for the tech just not in any thing it’s mainstream used in.

Great conversation, it sure is good to hear people return to the rational side of this technotopia that sounds great until you really ask meaningful questions about it....
Blockchain was one that I thought would be so amazing, until I saw how it was being used in reality, and now I think we must absolutely resist this.
Are you familiar with Alison McDowell?
She by far has the most extensive research into what is being planned and already applied by these people and it really is worse than almost anyone yet realizes.
Almost everything with blockchain has some rosy image on its face, like helping poor people get housing, but really it seems more like a way to build a worldwide digital prison....
Honestly, who really wants everything about you including what you have ever said to have a digital record forever connected to your identity?
This is madness!

To the question about government overreach, it basically comes back to Munecat's point about MLMs; they're pointing to a real problem, and offering a "solution" that doesn't fix anything. Yes, government overreach is a problem, but replacing it with a system of capitalist overreach is not an improvement.
