I was an ICU nurse for 5 years. It changed me as a person. I have nothing but empathy and compassion for the patients and the family and so much respect for those in that line of work- especially today.

Was in ICCU on a ventilator for 33 days. My family was told I had little chance of survival. I had 8 doctors on my case. Gangrene to my large intestine due to a blood clot caused sepsis that shut down all systems. Heart, lungs, kidneys, seizures, stroke, colostomy. I was told I was so swollen I looked like the Pillsbury dough boy or the Michelin man. My tongue Was so swollen and hanging out of my mouth. They had to keep my tongue moist tongue to keep it from drying out and cracking and having a massive problem with it. God Bless all the medical professionals who helped save my life. It took a million dollars to keep me alive and the comprehensive rehabilitation to learn how to walk and talk again, home health RNC Ostomy nurse, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Social Services. I got all my doctors a fancy writing pen with refills.

My wife was in ICU in 2013, and I was in 2014. Literally the scariest place I've ever been. I have so much respect for these nurses and doctors (just in general also) because I couldn't do what they do. I'm grateful we both made it out.

It reminds me of when I was in 7th grade of middle school I went in for surgery and ended up coding on the table and I had no pulse for 12 minutes. And in a coma for 2 days. I'm very lucky to be alive. Made me realize at a young age that God has a plan for everyone. God bless

Jacob's parents rejoicing over their son's awakening was the best thing I've seen in a long time. Damn, why is it so dusty in here? I'm not crying; you're crying!

I was a patient in the ICU. I came down with covid and my oxygen levels had dropped to the point I couldn't walk more that 2 steps. I was on 20 liters at one point. The doctors and nurses that worked on me were great. At the time I didn't know how bad I was but I was given the best care and pulled through. They were truly committed even with such stringent guidelines for a sterile environment that too over 30 minute to dress or undress. God Bless those workers

My dad was in the icu like a few weeks ago and he was on a ventilator and doctors said we had to prepare for the worse too this all happened due to internal bleeding while he was having lung surgery but by the grace of god and his willingness to improve his health he made a tremendous recovery and is now home with us.

My brother is an icu nurse. He has been an icu nurse during Covid where he was losing Covid patients left and right. It has really taken a toll on him mentally and physically. These nurses and doctors will just say they are just doing their jobs, but I wish they knew what angels on earth they are. The would say that they are just doing their jobs, but it takes someone special to volunteer to work at a level of such care. I am blessed to call one family. I am so proud of him.

I've never cried watching shows like this until I had a child of my own, but seeing Jacob and his folks all I can imagine is how my child's dad and I would be feeling if this was him.

My father-in-law was severely burned over 40% of his body at the age of 79 and he was in the ICU at a specialized Burn Hospital for 6 weeks! He had many surgeries and still at the end of the 6 weeks we had to make the decision to pull the plug and let him go! It was the hardest decision we ever had to make, but it was what was best for him because he was suffering so much!😢

Shows like this aren't only totally fascinating to me but they also remind me how lucky I am for every ounce of health and wellbeing I have.

This is an amazing show. I was an ICU nurse for over 15 years. I had to leave nursing after becoming disabled. I've never loved a job so much and I miss it tremendously. I mainly worked in the Cardiothoracic ICU but also had a few years in general ICU, Neuro ICU, and spent several months going through the Army Intensive Care Nursing Course at Ft Sam Houston. There's nothing better than to see someone in such life-threatening conditions overcome the odds and go home healed and get a second chance at life. These videos are wonderful. I may not be able to do this anymore, but it helps to see the process still working and brings back memories for me. It would be even better if we could ensure all admissions have happy endings. Thank you for posting this important show.
