"I'd fall asleep in class". - True story, I had Eddie's government teacher in '92, about a decade after he was sitting in that very class @ San Dieguito High in Encinitas. The teacher mentioned how Eddie would sit in the back of class and basically be silent and disconnected. Which was surreal to hear about as Jeremy was on an hourly blast on MTV at the time.

Got to know a saint in the rock world tonight, Eddie Vedder. My music was the Stones and the Beatles mainly, but Pearl Jam arrived much later. I never really listened to their stuff until tonight, but hey, my tastebuds are tinglin' from Jam tonight, and I am stunned by how much Eddie V. cares for his fellow man.
