If you are just seeing Madison for the first time...
The Paste Studio recording "Pin It Down' with Beth Goodfellow on drums and Daniel on Bass.
The Porter's Gate recording "Little Things with Great Love"
The "Riverman" recording in the front yard.
The "Neighbor Song" with Lake Street Dive
Any of the Live from Here recordings.
These just scratch the surface of Madison's talent.

She serves the song at 95 mph right at the baseline with a side of fries.
Her ego is so secondary as to be invisible.
She is hitting micro-cents...sliding where she intends...nailing where she intends.
Her guitar work is so well couched as to lock the song in place.
Subtle and in your face.
love it.

I'm so happy to see real behind-the-desk Tiny Desk concerts have returned, and I can't think of anyone I've wanted to see here more than Madison Cunningham. Like others, I've followed her and listened to her since she popped up on one of Chis Thile's wonderful (and badly missed) NPR shows. I'm a lifetime musician myself, and believe that Madison Cunningham is about the best singer/songwriter/guitarist out there today. I wonder how many people who first hear her realize how good she is. I know she impresses the likes of Thile, also Andrew Bird and others. Her songs are full of beautiful melody and rhythmic and phrase subtleties. Her guitar playing is not flashy but totally original, tasteful, and inimitable. Plus she's got an angel's voice. She's always prepared and performs superbly. Madison Cunningham is a musician's musician. Thanks to NPR for putting her on.

I can't get through this performance of "Life According to Raechel" without crying. I listen to this concert over and over, but have to stop before that song sometimes just to avoid breaking down in tears, because sometimes it's not just one or two tears, it's great big sobs. I don't know how she performs it without collapsing on stage. What a song. What an artist. I feel so fortunate that Madison Cunningham shares her art with us.

Gaaaah thank you NPR Music for having us! This came at a moment where I was (and still am) particularly proud of these songs and their evolution, with this force of a band made up of my favorite people. Thank you thank you!
