Why has no one mentioned anything about The White Stripesā€™ Little Songs? If you take a look at the bandā€™s discography, thereā€™s a trend that they kept going throughout their entire six-album run.

It started with ā€œLittle Peopleā€ on their self-titled debut.
Then ā€œLittle Birdā€ on De Stijl.
White Blood Cells gave us ā€œLittle Room.ā€
There was ā€œLittle Acornsā€ on Elephant.
ā€œLittle Ghostā€ on Get Behind Me Satan.
And finally ā€œLittle Cream Sodaā€ on Icky Thump.

With how calculated Jack White is when it comes to presentation, thereā€™s just no chance that this was a coincidence. Of course it was intentional. And knowing that they would continue this trend, would the group have put some extra thought into what these ā€œlittleā€ songs would represent over the course of their career? Most of them are far from the Stripesā€™ greatest hits, so is there anything that makes these songs more significant? Well, letā€™s take a closer look at The White Stripesā€™ Little Songs.

Jack said in a interview when Icky Thump came out that Little Cream Soda was untitled and Meg noticed that they didn't have a "little" song title yet and had a minor freak out about it. Jack said they just called the song "Little Cream Soda" because of the word. Elsewhere he said he noticed the "little" thing and thought it was a subconscious accident, and the only song that has any real meaning with the word would be "Little Room."

For me The White Stripes were one of the most creative bands ever, they were a duo, with a identity like the Ramones or AC/DC, their colors, formation, names, even the instruments! They revive the Delta Blues from legends like Son House, Robert Johnson and Blind Willie McTell, they play Garage, Punk, Country, Folk, Rock and Blues. All that in the early 2000's and become a mainstream band! That's something that with todays mainstream music seems almost impossible!

Little Room came on my playlist right as my bus pulled up to school the first day of freshmen year and now I listen to it at the beginnings and ends of each school year.

Little Cream Soda is the ultimate Stripes jam. One of their top songs for me.

Did you know "In My Time Of Dying" is a cover of a Blind Willie Johnson song?

Woah, "there's nothing left for me to tell you" line just has made such a new and a big sense for me now (listened to this song like a million times but as a foreigner some thoughts are hard to grasp). thanks, man!

it's cool how Jack White's skeletal Garage Rock completely reverses when you hear stuff like Blunderbuss or Boarding House Reach when it's full of instrumentation
