we gotta talk about formula 1 in Las Vegas

Let's talk about the spectacle sandwich that was the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. I predicted Vegas wasn't ready for F1 but I suppose it was the other way around. Time to breakdown unsecure storm drains, sparks flying, Blue Man Group, and racing as a commercial break.

I find so wholesome that Amanda's dad notices the warning sign that his daughter might be near the edge of having an Anxiety attack and came to check on her. 100% Dad goals

Im still laughing over the fact they tried to shut out all the non-paying plebeians from catching a glimpse of the track, but the traffic cams came in clutch with a decent view of the track

The race official showing off the manhole cover to the camera is so goofy lol

My favorite part of this will always be the part where the workers are now Amanda's friends and excited to tell her stuff. It's insanely cute 🥰

One of the longest fanfictions on AO3 is a formula 1 fic. Over 5 million words and 500 chapters. And its still ongoing, updated last week i believe.

THANK YOU for ending with the effect this had on locals. If people who work on The Strip have to spend four hours commuting for months before the race, that’s not acceptable. You are correct in saying they are not paid for that time. I hope they can make this much easier on the locals next year.

My dad has been watching f1 for YEARS and its so funny hearing him complain about the time it's broadcasted every single time it's in the us😂

As someone in the auto hospitality business, the week or so before hand, there were a shocking number of hospitality packages, boxes, etc being quietly offered around at heavily discounted numbers. I'd hazard a guess that even before the issues on-track, they lost their asses on this event.

It was alright. Glad the one drain cover was the only real safety issue and it didn't do more damage.

Through all the shit show that Vegas week was, the race itself was an absolute banger!!! I don't think anyone expected it to be such a fun race to watch!

I live on the east coast and if the goal with this is to grow the sport in the US then it was so dumb to have qualifying at 3am eastern time and the race at 1am eastern. They need to work with the city to be able to start earlier next year.

The times that the different aspects of the race were held at really frustrated me. The times were very late for every time zone in the US. Their whole justification for adding another US race was to get more US interest, but as an American who already loves f1 - even I was not staying up or waking up at 3am for qualifying. I can’t imagine being a casually interested American and realizing that I would have to stay up till 3 or 1 to watch the race. Not only that, but the drivers were all basically delirious with exhaustion. The race was exciting, yes, but I think they need to rework the schedule for the weekend for future events.

I did the Canadian Grand Prix on a budget a while ago (around 10 years ago - my memory sucks) and it was a blast. UQAM student dorms for under $100 a night and $150 for general admission. So don’t think you can’t go because some races are expensive.

That said, my bucket race list is Monaco because it’s the race I remember watching every year as a kid. (I know it sucks as a race and I don’t care!)

This isn't like, a big convention thing but I think you should check out like, metal detecting events! I'm obcessed with it and honestly more young folks need to get into it solely so I can have people to geek out about it with.

There's a hard to describe, very specific kind of pride to be an American that i feel whenever we manage to throw a wrench into an internationally respected sporting event

Its like when a really dumb cat does something on-brand that is annoying but is harmless and will be a funny story at family dinners

Thank you for touching on the way the track disrupted the locals. My best friend works on the strip and F1 had ruined her commute. It was already 1hour from where she lived but it was abysmal during the construction and after.

If they need to make this race accessible to locals. If you live and/or work in the area you either get a discount on tickets or they open up those bridges and viewing points that you had mentioned in the previous video. If you're going to put locals through this, they need to be rewarded for it.

I know you keep saying that the best way to get into Formula 1 is the Netflix show, but honestly your videos are making me invested in it all on their own
