When I was 26, my father told me that ever since he turned 40 the years seemed to go faster and faster, and that he just wished he could just slow down and enjoy every fleeting moment.
Heโs gone now. Iโm 50, and feeling the same way. I miss you, Dad, but you are always with me because I am now you.

My mom used to play this as we were driving away from my abusive dad. I used to cry to this song because I know my mom isnโt gonna be here forever. Love your momma because sheโs all you have. โDonโt know how else to say it... donโt wanna see my parents go...โ . My mom and I love John Mayer and I think of her every time I hear him.

After a couple of unsuccessful suicide attempts and a whole host of drug & substances abuse which I'm desperately trying to free my self from. I've found one thing that brings me back down to earth; music! Music saves life, keep exploring, and keep your spirits high.

Today I said goodbye to my parents one more time. This is something Iโve been doing since I was 16yo (2017, high school).
But this time was a little different, my dad just turned 60, my mom will get there soon, and now Iโm a โgrown manโ. Now I live in a different city because I have a job and a dream to chase, but I can assure that thereโs nothing, absolutely nothing better than been back home. Today this song hits me differently. I cried while listening to it on my way to the airport.
If you are reading this give your dad a call, tell your mother how much you miss her, donโt let this moment pass away. Thank you for that, John! Greetings from Brasil ๐ง๐ท

I was listening to this song when I was hit head on by a drunk driver going 70 mph. I have not listened to it since the accident and that was in 2006. Since that day so much has come to fruition and I feel very different than the day of my accident. This song holds a great deal of power that resonates with the beat of my heart. Mom, I miss you more than ever and I want you to know that you were the greatest mother and best friend that I have had the honor to have. Thank you for teaching me about this train and how little you want it to end.

The best part of this song to me is the chorus. The way he's able to transition from "train" to "again" to "in" to "can't" to back to train to make it all feel like it's rhyming when it actually doesn't. It encapsulates the idea of having to create your own piece even when the things don't fit together perfectly in life cuz the train isn't stopping.

No, I'm not color blind
I know the world is black and white
I try to keep an open mind
But I just can't sleep on this, tonight
Stop this train
I want to get off and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But, honestly, won't someone stop this train?
Don't know how else to say it
I don't want to see my parents go
One generation's length away
From fighting life out on my own
Stop this train
I want to get off and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But, honestly, won't someone stop this train?
So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young
So I play the numbers game
To find a way to say that life has just begun
Had a talk with my old man
Said, "Help me understand"
He said, "Turn sixty-eight
You'll renegotiate"
"Don't stop this train
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
And don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly, we'll never stop this train"
Once in a while, when it's good
It'll feel like it should
When you're all still around
And you're still safe and sound
And you don't miss a thing
'Till you cry when you're driving away in the dark
Singing, stop this train
I want to get off and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know, I can't
'Cause now I see I'll never stop this train.
